[I came, I saw, what a great view] One of the best locations for a CL if you're doing the 'wall' thing (think Freddie Dibnah) and fairly easy access for a 40ft rig. Some sloping pitches but nothing extreme and the facilities are first class. The Roman Army museum (part of Vinolanda) is just a short drive away and the Wall Walk just a close. Plenty of places to get provisions. We chose Waitrose in Hexham and visited the Abbey. Parking in Hexham is free but confusing. Just avoid the blue and red lined bays, stick to white. Only downer on the CL was the building of a large barn in a neighbouring field, but the Northumberland Sunshine (aka wind and rain) soon stopped play.
