MAGICAL PART 2

I reviewed Willow Cottage CL (titled MAGICAL) last year but due to a few changes my review is now outdated…….all will be revealed…… The original Willow Cottage CL has now been transformed into “Bird Song Touring Park”(birdsongtouringpark.com) a lovely independent small site. The owners Karen & Bob have been busy over the winter and the results are wonderful. Karen & Bob have created the NEW Willow Cottage CL about 200metres further down the road on the left, so it’s a completely separate site. It involves a U turn into the site entrance; however, there is plenty of room for this to be done safely. The CL does look to be a little on the small side when you pull in, this is however deceptive, there is enough room to be able to pitch your leisure vehicle without a problem and the pitches have been thoughtfully laid out to give everyone plenty of room. It would be easy to cut and paste my original review now, as this site is just as magical as the other one but with better phone and TV reception. A small lake runs along two sides of the CL in an “L” shape with trees boarding the edge. This creates ideal wildlife habitats and therefore good photographic opportunities. Pitches 3, 4 & 5 are laid to grass and are located on the lake edge. Pitches 1 & 2 are hardstanding (gravel) and are slighter higher but behind pitches 4 & 5. All pitches benefit from full sun for most of the day. The price per night is £11 with 16amp electrics just as the previous site. There is a short woodland walk which takes you through the trees around the edge of the site to a wooden hut/gazebo, where you can sit and watch the wildlife using the lake. (thoughtfully provided with chairs and a tealight candle and holder). Everyday two kingfishers visited the lake to find food and used the protruding branches over the lake as perches. During the evening and night the tawny owls can be heard calling to each other. The site is fully secluded by trees and shrubbery and tastefully landscaped with plants. The entrance side is open to the road. You will hear vehicles using the road but this is a rural back road only used by the locals who live further down the road and the odd farmer during harvest time, so not intrusive in any way. I hope this review helps you to make a choice about staying at this lovely CL. You now have the dilemma of whether to choose Birdsong Touring Park or Willow Cottage CL, both have the same charms and are run by friendly owners in a beautiful location.

Tranquil Oasis

Stayed here Aug 2017-what a lovely spot. The CL is so well kept and the Bob & Karen are lovely people and so welcoming. (Only problem with Karen is she turns up with her own glass of wine-never brings the bottle!) So very helpful and you really feel like they are glad you're here. Will definitely come again and hopefully soon and stay longer next time. Access is easy and the pub in the village do some great food (The Bell-but don't have a starter unless you have a big appetite-main courses are enormous!) We were blessed with the weather too-all in all a brilliant 4 days Thanks-Mike & Jackie

Magical

Willow Cottage is a magical place and its owners Karen & Bob are really lovely people who are always willing to help without being intrusive. The CL is beautifully maintained with a lawned area protected by a hedge-line with pitches in full sun for most of the day. The other side of the CL is given over to wildlife ponds and a woodland walk with pitches available on the edge of the pond. This is ideal for watching the family of resident ducks, moorhens and to our delight, two kingfishers. What a wonderful way to spend two hours over breakfast just watching two kingfishers flying over the pond catching fish. We mainly use CLs and this is the best one we have found. It is peaceful, relaxing, entertaining (the ducks!) and magical. Karen and Bob are wonderful hosts. The welcome board on arrival at the gate is a nice touch. The woodland walk leads up to a wooden gazebo called the "champagne bar" which looks out over the Lincolnshire countryside for guests to enjoy. Karen and Bob also open their own garden to the National Garden Scheme so all gardeners will appreciate the hard work and level of maintenance that they give to this CL.  The local village provides all the amenities required. Coop, fuel, newspapers, bakery, butchers, takeaways and restaurants.  We would recommend The Windmill Restaurant -    www.windmillrestaurant.co.uk and Lakeside Bar & Restaurant - www.thelakesrestaurant.co.uk  At the time of writing this review (Sept 2016) the pitch charge is £11 per night. The CL is adult only, welcomes dogs and doesn't charge for awnings. Mobile coverage on EE was patchy but usable and  Tesco / O2 was fine.  Willow Cottage is a wonderful place to stay and unwind. Visit their website for more details -http://www.willowcottagecl.webs.com/  The only problem is going back to reality when you leave.

Great in all aspects

Well signed from main road, access good. The welcome notice was reassuring and so was that of owner and Chas and Dave (2 white ducks). Nice aspect and opening up the west side has maximised the light. Excellent value. OK for motorhomes as bus is available about 400 yds away.

Hush don't tell anyone I said this.........

Just spent a wonderful week here, an oasis of peace and tranquillity. The site is a credit to its owners who keep it looking perfect. There is plenty of space between pitches and the welcome board is a very nice touch. It is such a beautiful place I hesitate to recommend it in case we can't get a pitch in the future!

Lovely setting and well maintained.

We wanted a convenient site for a nearby family event in Bratoft. The site is very well maintained, but a few pitches may need levelling blocks. Due to recent weather, the ground was a little soft, but we managed to find an ideal pitch near the pond. Watching the varied bird life, particularly the young ducklings, kept us entertained better than TV. Would definitely use this CL again.

First Class CL

We have now stayed on this site a couple of times. Really well ran site with fist class facilities. Grass maintained more as a lawn than a field. Friendly helpful owners. Information board about local facilities. The village is just over a mile away and is a lovely village with nice pubs, a superb butchers and bakers and a spar and coop for all ones regular supply requirements.
