Absolutely lovely

Stayed here in May. Really lovely spot, handy for Pickering and Thornton le Dale (Matthewsons, Bangers & Cash) Lovely surrounding areas and nice views from site. Really quiet, surrounded by farm land. Easy access about 1 mile from main road, down lane with plenty of passing places. Site was completely refurbished this year with hard standings and fully serviced pitches, with recycling and toilet disposal well away from pitches but still convenient distance. Really friendly and helpful lady owner. Grateful thanks for the lovely large double yolk eggs. Will definitely stay again. Roger & Penny Carter.

wonderful views

We recently stayed at this site for 10 days or so. On our journey to get there the main A1M was closed due to a terrible accident, meaning an hour and a half of diversion for us. The site owner was very welcoming and understanding of our late arrival, which put us at ease as we had been concerned about being late. Going from previous reviews, the site has recently undergone a transformation? Accessibility is easy and there are white stone pitches with grass between. Each pitch has its own EHU, drinking water tap and grey waste drain. The views are to die for and we have fallen in love with the area! Thornton le dale and Pickering with the North Yorkshire Railway and really interesting local museum are an easy short drive away, whilst Whitby, Scarborough and Filey are all within easy travelling distance too if the coast is your thing. North Yorkshire Moors are glorious and easy to get to. All in all, a wonderful site in a wonderful area that we will visit again for sure. We wish the very friendly owners every success with the site.

Can't fault it

Lovely site, easy access, quiet, well maintained, good situation for exploring local area. Only 6 amps electricity, but at £10 per night, we didn't mind using more gas than usual. Some plots are a long way from elec points, but no problem if you have an extra hook-up cable (you can probably borrow one - the owners are very helpful). Facilities exactly what you expect from a CL. As other reviewers have said, there are many regulars, so you'll need to book ahead.

Pretty

I have been a caravaner for many years and stayed on CL sites up and down the country. I can honestly say that this is the prettiest site I have been on. Owners are welcoming and helpful. Lovely fresh eggs from their chickens. A site I definitely recommend and shall return to.

You'll Need to Book

We stayed 10 nights and used it as a base to explore the moors, the coast and the train. Only 4 miles from Pickering it's easy to have a day out on the North Yorks Steam Railway to get fish 'n chips in Whitby. It's also only about 15 miles from Scarborough. The site is spotless, grass cut almost daily and the goats and rams will eat any vegetable leftovers that you have. This site has many regulars which is not surprising considering it's location and it's peace and tranquillity. A good 3G reception on Three.

Fabulous

What another gem of a site.first time here but won't be last. Directions to site fab. Lovely lawned flat site. All the electric points are on one side so this potentially limits the caravans to one side however if u joined a couple this would give more freedom. Owners lovely although in fairness hardly seen them. Didn't want payment on arrival.

A lovely CL for access to Scarborough

The directions from Wilton village were really good, and the field was flat and good for access. We loved the site and they were great hosts. The directions from the Newcastle area via the A19 look to be via Thirsk, but the A170 has a section which cannot be taken towing a caravan. There is a labelled route to avoid the problem but it is about 10 miles, so perhaps going another route than the A19 and A170 may be preferred.

This is the best CL

The best CL I have stayed on. Caroline works very hard on the farm and still has time to keep the grass immaculate although Harry helps also. Thanks Andrew and Caroline for a good holiday.
