Clean site, helpful friendly owner

Stayed one night. Fresh water and EHU on each pitch. Some road noise, but not intrusive. Lovely showers and toilet. Recommend as not far from M6

All round excellence

Lovely CL with choice of 7 pitches, although one is smaller than the others which are very generous. There is a well kept little play area and two individual shower rooms that are fully equipped with large shower, sink, toilet etc and each pitch has its own water tap. Shower rooms are individually designated one male/one female and as the site is small timing is not usually a problem. There was even an evening visit from an ice cream van on occasion. Whilst we were there the site had a mixture of very short stays and longer ones so sometimes full and always interesting. It is a very short drive from the motorway and easy to find with clear instructions. Penrith is about 5 minutes drive away and it’s worth knowing about the 3hrs free parking at Sainsburys/New Squares, the 1hr disk scheme and 2hrs parking at M&S. It is a very compact town so all the parking is close by and we happily browsed the town and had lunch with the free parking several days. You have Keswick and Carlisle relatively short drives away but beware of going westwards and the Hardknott Pass. Lovely owners, always busy and on top on things, cleaning, mowing etc. Was initially dubious of the electric cap, people worry enough about things like that at home without having the added pressure of it on holiday however: we used things as ‘normal’ for the first 24hours and used just under 10 units. By turning off the 24hr heated towel rail, only heating the water once a day, minimal heating due to nice weather and gas for brews instead of electric, we averaged under 6 units a day. We don’t have a TV and any heating was restricted to a partitioned 1/3 of the caravan. If we had been a large caravan with family and it was a cold spell our usage would no doubt have been much more but for us in summer, it was not a problem and an interesting exercise in use. And of course, we could have made more use of the gas. All round brilliant site.

Great CL well placed for Penrith

We stayed here for two nights as a stop over as we travelled up to Glasgow due to it's proximity to motorway. However, it has much more to offer than that. The hardstanding pitches have electricity and water. The toilet block is of a really high standard ( although we tend to use our own facilities) . I would come here again.

Fantastic site

We stayed 10 days here the owners Dave and Julie are brilliant if you want to talk to them they’ve always got time for a chat. The site is in stunning condition the pitches are easily big enough for our twin axle caravan all are hard standing with water and electric for every pitch. Fantastic toilet block huge shower, toilet and sink with dressing area as well there is one for men and one for women which Julie cleans every day and checks throughout the day. The site is ideal for access to the whole of the Lake District we did two boat trips loads of places to visit coast is not too far. I’m a cyclist so loads of great rides Hills are in abundance. We will definitely return.

A good overnight stop.

We had one night at Woodhead Farm on our way to Scotland. Access is great from the M6, which is why we chose to stay. Obviously being that close there is motorway noise. I’m sure if the wind was in a different direction we may not have heard it so loudly, at one time I thought we had left a window open! Nice site, pitches fairly tight for our large twin axle caravan but doable, easier for us as the pitch opposite was vacant when we arrived but would have needed the motor mover otherwise. Water and electric on the pitch. There are 2 toilets, and I think there is a shower although we didn’t use either so can’t comment. Very nice owners and we would stay again but only for a short stay - or if we knew the wind direction!!!

Excellent site

Loved this site. Stayed here for only one night but would have stayed longer if able. Lovely quiet site on a working farm just off M6. Roomy serviced pitches. They have 2 shower huts that are very clean and well fitted out. A small children's play area. Surrounded by fields with cows and sheep.( no smells) No noise from motorway. There is a very scenic 20 minute walk from the farm, through Catterlen then on to Newton Reigny ending at the Sun Inn which has a great beer garden. This is a great site and would thoroughly recommend a visit if you want peace and quiet or need a stop off travelling the M6. Just a note that as you turn right on to the farm road there is also a small site sharp right. This apparently confuses a lot of folk that this is the farm but different club ( it certainly caught us out at first) but the farm is about 200m further up on the left.

Mature Couple

Two night stay in mid-May on our way to Scotland. Best site we have ever been on for access from the motorway, but not disturbed at all by motorway noise. Pleasant views, flat pitches, water at pitch, good welcome. Good access to Keswick, Ullswater etc. Will certainly be back.

Fantastic Little Site

We used this site as a stopover from Essex on our way to and from Scotland. Very easy access from the motorway. The is a slight hum of traffic but nothing to put you off. Very well kept and spacious pitches - with water and EHU. Shower and toilet too if you needed them and these were very clean. Lovely surroundings over looking fields. We liked it so much we have booked for a week next year. Keep up the good work.

Highly Recommended

Everything about this site is straightforward and friendly. Booking was easy. Easily to access site from M6 or A66. Very clean toilet and shower facilities. Everything about the site is very organised. Friendly family feel. Lovely to watch the sheep with their lambs and working in the fields to make hay. Penrith is a bustling market town. We also walked along the river Eden and visited the magical Lacey caves. Long Meg and her daughters is also highly recommended. Beautiful part of the country.

Convenient and very clean

We stayed here on our way up to Oban. Conveniently situated near to the motorway junction - but not noisy. Immaculate toilet block and well maintained site. Very welcoming. Can definitely recommend.
