First impressions Pre booking this site was easy, friendly and the owner was very chatty by email... Promised to pop down and meet us on day of arrival (same said to other campers) .... but this never happened... never saw owner Clair once during the week we were there... seemed to prefer to communicate by email... only. We arrived at 12 noon on our first day, and during our journey we were told by "email" that there was no running water in the toilet block, some sort of leak... and not to worry this would be fixed soon. This wasn't fixed until 10pm that night... we saw someone fixing the leak in the dark. The Shower cubicle was clearly in use when we arrived at lunchtime, as we inspected this on arrival and was fine and appeared to be in good working order... fresh shower spray on the curtain and tray... but when we tried to use the shower early that evening we were told again by email that was out of use too ? but no mention of that earlier in the day... Not a great start.... to be honest... and clearly linked to the water leak... but why not just be honest about this ? instead of saying it was simply "out of order" ? it clearly hadn't been out of order..... We only choose this site cos of the facilities.. ... and the good reviews about the facilities. ? Toilet paper was supplied which was great.. but the floor in the toilets never seemed to be swept or cleaned .. and the door had to be forcibly shoved open the following day (we think it was Dave who suggested this over telephone) as was stuck by a faulty broken door plate, I put this to one side of the sink and it stayed there, unfixed or even removed for another week... Two out of 3 toilet seats were broken, and one toilet door didn't lock at all.... so only one toilet was in good use, for 8 adults There isn't a water tap on every pitch as stated either in the listing.... but luckily that didn't affect us... The worst bit... the bins were never emptied once and we were there 7 days, and to note* were already half full when we first arrived... This resulted in bad smells, inconsiderate campers just piling rubbish on top of bins and a visit from a local rodent... all this going on.. in the hottest week of the year so far... ? not acceptable The gazebo tent was a lovely touch for shade. But was not secured down properly and spent most of the week flapping about which was annoying I don't normally write negative reviews but felt this was justified... the owner apologised by email for the issues we experienced and said improvements would be done by next season .... as big changes were being planned and they didn't want the expense of fixing the current facilities.... but that's no good to us currently on the site and a bit unfair really ! Come on owners ! Improvements needed to empty the bins and replace the broken toilet seats and maybe apologise face to face when things go wrong for your paying guests ...
