A peaceful gem in the middle of suburbia

This was our first visit to Abbey Wood. Having used CMC sites before I was expecting the usual high standard for our Easter break. From arrival I was impressed. The wardens were friendly and helpful, they gave great advice about choosing a pitch. Great information about getting in to London, and various facilities on the site. We chose pitch 6 which was in the crescent part of the site facing the sun, if it had been present! It was a quiet part of the site given there was no thorough traffic and would definitely try to get in this area again. There would be more passing traffic if you were on the main drive, but to be honest given it's not a massive site there won't be that many cars etc going by. I couldn't believe how peaceful it was, birds singing, wind in the trees, all the more remarkable given it is surrounded by houses. The trees however give good camouflage. There was noise from the odd aeroplane, but they were few and far between. Facitiltes were good - clean and warm and numerous service points. Even though by the end of the week there were few empty pitches you didn't feel as though you were among a mass of people. The drainage was good and even though it rained every day there was no standing water anywhere on the site. The price was very good given we weren't far from London, and even the drive down from the North East of England was relatively straight forward. When we come the next time I wouldn't come off at the A223/A220 as the satnav suggested I'd continue on to A210 then danson road and Brampton road. Just be mindful that satnav will send you down knee hill to the site however at the crossroads there is a sign sending you to the left, this is a circuitous route which is fine given knee hill is steep, however at the roundabout from the B213 there is no sign telling you where to go, it was only the fact I knew we needed to come from knee hill that I spotted it to the right of the roundabout and knew where to go. This was nothing to do with the site however. Roll on our next visit, it's a no brainier for a visit to the capital.
