Wet Weekend

Enjoyed a very wet 4 nights at Baltic Wharf. The journey in was a bit of a nightmare due to the roadworks in Bristol, and a bit tight getting a 7.5 metre motorhome through the entrance due to the roadworks. Had a couple of nice meals and drinks at The Cottage pub, and can recommend Sunday lunch. Great location for getting into Bristol. We caught the bus to the aerospace museum in Filton and enjoyed a Nando’s and a trip to the cinema in Cabot Circus. The only slight let down was the shower block, waiting outside, only to find that folks had walked off with the rubber bands or left them inside once they’d finished, it’s not rocket science so we just ended up using our own shower. Have visited the site a few times before and visited SS Great Britain, the zoo and Clifton etc. Anyway in these difficult times, just nice to get away !!!!!!

Best site.

I love Baltic Wharf, so sorry it will be closing a very sad loss to the network. If you can get there before it closes please do. Very compact site with great facilities close to major attractions in Bristol (you can see Clifton Suspension Bridge and walk to SS Great Britain). The only downside is the road outside which is very busy, but once set up, not a problem.

First rate

Another fantastic stay at Baltic Wharf, the wardens Matt Gemma and not to forget Doris the dog, are excellent Wardens, they cannot do enough for you, the site is immaculate, the toilets and showers are spotless, so Covid friendly, I wish all the other sites we have been to were as clean and friendly as this one, cannot wait to go back again, the only Wardens I know that are on the go cleaning and keeping things so friendly and safe. Thank you Matt and Gemma for another great stay.

Macey’s stay at Baltic Wharf

First visit to Bristol Baltic Wharf site and loved it. Fantastic location. Back gate to the site was like a magic door. Site was spotless. Wardens Matt and Gemma couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. Site was very Covid secure and we felt very safe. We will certainly return. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Another Great Stay.

Few days popped up so visited while we could.Been coming here for nearly 20 years. Yes,a bit tired and with covid closures you need to pick times to use toilet block. Nice to walk along waterside or sit and watch the world go by. Plenty places to eat ,have good look 1st and avoid too many people. As always hope to go again but I think plans are progressing for flats,What happened to" much needed school" as council said in 2015 ??

Great Site. Great location. But ......

We’ve stayed at Baltic Wharf several times and always look forward to it. This time, with the pandemic and with the sword of Damocles hanging over the site, the dynamic was obviously different. The roadworks outside and the crazy route you have to now take to get in is another issue. That said, the staff are good and the location is just the best. I do have one criticism though, which is easily rectifiable. The toilets have the most pathetic flushing system that I’ve encountered at a club site. Probably in an effort to save water, a flush sends a cup full of water down the pan and makes no impression on the contents whatsoever. The occupants, in order to save embarrassment, are forced to stay in the cubicle, await a refill and then the same happens. They are ridiculous. Even I, as a basic DIY’er could rectify that. Allow some more water into the cisterns for heavens sake. Rant over. Still one of our top 5 sites. So sorry that it might be the last visit.

Beware of roadworks!

Visited the lovely Baltic Wharf site on a few occasions now, as we stay there when possible as my partners son lives in Bristol, so it's a really handy site for us. It's always well kept, and brilliant for accessing the floating harbour, city centre, and more. However, having just returned from there today, we were relieved to have made it into the site, then out of the site onto the motorway, as the road works, blocked off roads, one way systems and temporary traffic lights are pretty disastrous for caravaners & Motorhomers. Getting into site via the A4 into the centre, then into the site (our usual route in) ended with us having to Re route, as Cumberland Rd was completely blocked off our end in...... every which way we tried ended with no access, buses only or one way. We eventually skirted around the city centre and came down the other end of Cumberland Rd. Leaving was no better...... you are instructed to turn left only out of the site. However, having done that, the bridge at the end, where you would turn right to access city centre, was closed off, only allowing cars coming the other way! We eventually found room to turn around at the back of the M Shed musuem, and return back towards the site (a fellow Motorhomer had followed us, and was just as miffed) and we managed to pick up the A4 and then the M5. It was bad enough for us Motorhomers, but it would be worse for caravaners for obvious reasons. I gather all the road works & blocked roads is quite a dynamic situation........it can change by the day, as it did for us! However, the lack of diversion signs, updates and basic help to get in & out for us tourists is appalling. Club input & help on the local road situation there would be useful too. We were lucky, as we know Bristol & the city centre quite well, as family live there, so were able to negotiate our way around. Others will not be so lucky.......... Sat Navs don't necessarily know about road blocks, temporary one way systems, etc.

Great city stop

This is the first time we have visited the Baltic wharf site and hopefully it won't be our last. What an amazing location! I will start with the managers Gemma and Matt. They do a fabulous job. With it been a smaller site they have to look after it on their own and they are doing a fantastic job in difficult circumstances. The site is very covid secure. They are extremely friendly and helpful and try to assist as best as they can while staying safe themselves. As I have said the site is small, but well set out. The facilities are clean and tidy. The location is great, right on the floating harbour. You can walk straight into the city, old and new. Lots of pubs, bars and restaurants, following covid procedures within walking distance from the site. You can also order takeaway deliveries to the site. There are lovely parks close by for dog walking off lead and there are cycle paths from the site in all directions. I can't recommend this site enough.

All good except the entrance and exiting.

With the landslip outside of the Cumberland road entrance/exit, single carriageway with traffic lights plus the deviation on approach it was interesting to say the least. One motorhome had its rear end damaged exiting so be careful. Wardens did an excellent job with check in, vacated pitches were sprayed before use, sanitizer everywhere including the back gate onto the wharf. Facilities well controlled with three bands in a bath of Milton fluid and personally saw it being adhered to when I used them. Not too good for dog exercising, but we had reasons to be there and knew this already. Weather was excellent so walking along the wharf, cycling along the Avon under Brunels bridge was a dry affair. All in all we felt safe on site but along the wharf social distancing was impossible.
