Actually getting a booking for this site is an acheivement in itself, and when you do arrive you can see why it is so popular. The site itself maybe not the best for siting outside the caravan and relaxing, because its outside the site is what makes this city centre site so attractive. With a ferry to the city,SS Great Britain M shed all within the harbour area.
Clifton area up to the Suspension bridge make an interesting walk. The local Cottage Pub is handy for an evening drink.
Ideal for motorhomers visiting Bristol
We like this site, and enjoy visiting Bristol. The main problem is trying to book two consecutive nights, invariably the site is pretty well fully booked most of the time. Our last visit was a week ago, two nights and a pleasant stay, only minor complaint, as mentioned in other posts, the limited facilities and on this visit, intermittent wifi.
Great location in a fascinating city
We've stayed here quite a few times over the years as it's handy for visiting relatives, as well as exploring the city. OK, the pitches are smallish and there could be more showers etc, but the location is the big draw and more than makes up for any niggles. Where else can you pop out of the gate and catch a water ferry into town, passing the lovely SS Great Britain?! One plea to folk leaving - please make sure you don't block up the gate after 12 noon, as everyone seems to arrive on time it can be a bit of a bun-fight getting in and late leavers add to the chaos as only one unit can fit through the gates at a time.
Bristol needs this site
At least the site seems to have a guaranteed further 3 years of life. The idea od the council putting a primary school on it beggars belief, and there was, no doubt, little likelihood of that in reality - more like a block of flats.
However Bristol as a principal city in the Uk should and must have a good site, and this certainly fulfils that role for now.
As a Motorhomer, it is one of the best located, giving an easy walk, bus trip of ferry ride direct into the city, from where there is excellent public transport to many other places.
As a site it always had its limitations in terms of size, which means it's almost always to get a booking there. In terms of facilities, iut meets the CC standards Ok, though there has always been a problem with the showers, where one minute you can have a very comfortable hot shower, the next it goes momentarily cold. It's not the only CC site where we have found this, but at least from whichever pitch you are on, there's not far to go for the facilities! The comment above concerning wardens is very true, and those there currently are very friendly, and pleasant, a welcome contrast to the ones there on our last visit a couple of years ago.We shall certainly return there- so long as we can find a date when there is some space!
excellent site for motor homes, but not caravans
nice site for visiting the city, but being a caravaner found it very poor as a pitiful amount of pitches available for an awning, which spoilt the site for us!on the plus for this visit was nice friendly wardens(better than last years grumpy unhelpful lot)nice clean blocks, tidy clean site,
Baltic Return
We have visited Baltic Wharf a number of times on over the years and were sad to hear it was to close so we're happy when this was put on hold. It is always difficult to get on to the site at weekends but as we had nothing to lose kept trying and got a one night booking en route from home in Cornwall to visit family in Northamptonshire.
The site is perfect for us as our favourite restaurant, San Carlos, is a pleasant stroll away in Corn Street and the route there is very enjoyable alongside the water of the old Bristol floating dock.
If you have not tried it it is a wonderful site with a great variety of things to do on the doorstep.
Lovely Site
We stopped here for two nights. Brilliant site very clean and a fantastic location in the center of Bristol. I would definitely recommend this site. Looking to book again soon.
Brilliant
Fantastic location. Love the back gate straight on to the River and a very pleasant walk into the city. Alternatively the ferry service, which is just left of the gate, is a great asset, and very reasonably priced. Handy having a pub next door. Always something to see on the river and the city was a big surprise. Lovely to take our chairs and sit by the riverside watching the world go by. Congratulations to the Caravan club for extending the lease for 3 more years. I hope it continues for a long time after that. Will definitely return

Good Site
My wife and I are very glad this wonderful site is remaining open for another 3 years, we consider this site to have everything for a family break, not far to walk into Bristol along the dock side, near SS Great Britain and a wonderful eating place named The Cottage within 30 metres walk.
The wardens are wonderful and run a very good site in all.
Fully recommended, so well done the Club.
Brilliant location
Small site, very good location with pub/restaurant, walking, rowing, sailing, cycling right on your doorstep.
Catch a ferry to the town centre or a walk along the quayside for the more energetic, a number of places to eat nearby.
Can be noisy at closing time because of the location of the pub, care needs to be taken with children as the quayside has no protection, and the main entrance leads directly onto a main road.
