Lovely adults only site

!st site we've been to in 35 years where they park your caravan for you using their little tractor. Not a bad experience though thanks to Hannah who put the van on our pitch and explained the site to us. Cars are not allowed to be parked on your pitch so must be left on the car park outside reception. The site is well maintained and the shower facilities excellent. Staff are all very pleasant. WiFi good but expensive @ £10 for 4 days (Caravan Club internet not available here). Dog walk nice but not secure and dogs must be kept on a lead in the walk itself. Some nice walks from the site especially to and round part of the lake (dogs must also be kept on a lead here due to the wildlife). Fish & Chips from the lakeside Salt & Malt (1.5miles) are recommended and a visit to the Ring O Bells pub at Hinton Blewett (2 miles) for an excellent meal also recommended (ask at reception for a 10% discount card).

Comfortable stay but a long way from Bath

We arrived to a friendly and informative welcome for our 4 night stay in early February. Site clean and obviously cared for with pride. The unisex facilities were spotless and warm and the Full Service pitch a definite plus point. Several good local walks with available information in the helpful information centre. Public transport to Bath was once weekly and P & R's outside Bath have height restrictions precluding our Motorhome entering. However there is a lay by opposite the Newbridge P & R which we managed to park in, although I suspect this gets full in busier months. We found the Red Lion food basic and on a Saturday night bulging with locals after a rugby match. The Pony and Trap, Michelin star pub is 2.5 miles away and thoroughly recommended for a special indulgence. The local Indian Restaurant "Sutton Spice" is also recommended - their food was delicious with an extensive menu and several speciality dishes and a warm welcome. Shame about the outside view of the restaurant from the busy road. All in all a very comfortable and peaceful stay.

Great Site

Visited between 1st and 4th Dec 16. A warm welcome on arrival and shown to our pitch by a member of staff who assisted in parking the van and explaining the utilities. The facilities were spotlessly clean and warm given the time of year. throughout our stay the staff were friendly and went out of their way to assist. A good location for visiting Bath, Bristol and Wells. Overall a great stay will definitely return again and recommend the site to others.

October break

Visited 16-20 Oct. Site was about 2/3 full. 9 Individual toilets, all with a different configeration. Warm & cosy and very clean. You are allocated your pitch. We had pitch 11, which was in total shade all the time of our stay, which was disappointing as the weather was very good for the time of year. Your van is put on your pitch for you, and after emptying your car, you have to leave it in the car park. About 12 miles from the park & ride at Bath. Visited Wells & Glastonbury. Overall, a very nice site.

What do you expect!

Have just read two reviews on here and wonder what folk realistically expect. We have been caravanning for more years than I can remember and this site is a GEM. Yes, there are rules, most can be "tailored" to your requirements and ensure everyone is catered for. Lovely warm welcome, immaculate grounds, lovely walks, easy access to park and ride for Bath. As to the local up the lane, The Red Lion, we've just walked back, 5 mins, after enjoying the most succulent slow roasted lamb, cauliflower cheese, roast potatoes, fresh veg and warm welcome. Owner extremely friendly, staff very helpful, locals so informative. Went twice, loved it. We will definitely come again and highly recommend it to you as seasoned caravaners.

recent visit

Just returned from a 3 day stay. Very disappointed site very isolated. Went to the local pub but was nothing special. Only bus service is to Bristol on a daily basis everything else is only weekly. Shower facilities need an update. Wardens pleasant and helpful. Not the site for us.

Tidy site but remote

This is a well kept site, with perfectly manicured grass which you are not allowed to use. All cars have to be parked in the car park and there are many rules and regulations to adhere to. The site is remote and you need your own transport to get anywhere as public transport is virtually non existent. We ended up hiring a car through enterprise (who were excellent). Bath is actually 12.5 miles away but worth the visit. The local pub is defiantly for the locals and serves pretty adverage food. Needless to say we wil not be returning as there are many many more CCS worth visiting
