Lovely and Peaceful

We have stayed at the Chew Valley site for the last week including the glorious Easter weekend. The site is amazing it is so quiet and peaceful. The gardens are kept lovely and the lawns are discreetly kept neat. Loved the pitch we had. The bonus of individual bathrooms was a real treat. The staff where nice, helpful and very informative about the local area. Loved the caravan valet parking/pitching service (could get used to that). The pet exercise area is adequate for morning and evening toilet stops. It’s not a walk but serves the purpose it was designed for. A lot of people have said in previous reviews that they were not keen on the fact that you cannot park your car near the pitches. To be honest this was a bonus I think as you don’t have cars coming in and out all the time disturbing the peace. Also the car park is only a few yards from even the furthest pitch. I believe there is pitches where you can park near your unit for disabled guests and I am sure if you do have problems walking you could ask for the pitches nearest the car park which would resolve the distance problems. The local shop is very well stocked and the Red Lion pub (both just 5 minute walk from the site) was very unassuming but the food was lovely. Better than your average pub grub. We ate there 3 times including Sunday lunch which was lovely. Top tip the portion sizes are generous so think before ordering starters. We also stumbled on the Pony and Trap (about 1.5 miles from site) whilst walking and treated our selves to a very posh ploughman’s lunch which was the best I’d ever had mind you it is a Michelin star restaurant. Definitely recommended for a treat. We went back for an evening meal and was not disappointed. The area is fab for sightseeing so much to see and a walkers paradise. Most shops, restaurants and tea rooms are doggie friendly (including the two pubs mentioned) We have been to Wells, Glastonbury, Cheddar Gorge, all the local lakes and even managed a trip across to wales (to visit family) for the day. We definitely recommend this site for couples and families without children (Adult only site) and will be coming back.
