4 Nights 14 May 2019

This was stop 6 on our multi-stop tour from Lincolnshire to Scotland (and back) with 4 nights here after a 3 hour drive from the Maragowan site. Our second stay here since leaving home in April but this time on the return journey from Scotland. Just love the big panoramic views here, fantastic! I don't want this to be a repeat of what I said in the outward review so I will just say that we have another booking here for 21 nights later in the year. Love it! Had some great help from the wardens when there was an issue with our caravan while we were off site one day so a big thank you to Carolyn. Wardens do a lot more than cut grass and clean toilets. Summary: A site well worth visiting for its location and wonderful outlook. Many nice places to visit within an easy drive or bus ride. Bus stop right outside the site. Next stop: Teesdale Barnard Castle.

I find all your reviews extremely honest and helpful. Could you help me on a couple of points I have looked at this site before and we love the area but the reviews are completely mixed.  We have a Swift Challenger 560 which is 7.5 mtrs long would we have trouble on this site with the length as some have mentioned that over 7.4 there would be problems. Also the 13:00 arrival seems to cause at lot of problems on arrival have you had any problems. I look forward to your reply and thanks for all the great reviews.

I suggest you ring the site and discuss the size of pitches with the warden.

If arrival time is 1300, I’d not think you’d have a problem arriving after that time. Usually it's people who think it’s check-in time rather than arrival time who cause the problems by blocking up the approaches to sites. Again, chat to the warden if you think there will be issues.

Not sure if the reviewer will see your post Bob. I have used this site several times but only once since the 1pm arrival was introduced. We have a 7m but the pitches that I saw seemed ample deep enough for your outfit. May length on the site is 9m. There was a problem when we arrived on a Friday of a Bank Holiday weekend at end April Start of May. Weather good and site full that weekend. We arrived at 2 minutes to 1pm and the access road was full of outfits. The warden walked down the line just as I arrived (I was the last one on the access road) and asked that we all proceed to a pitch and either drop partner off or pitch and pay afterwards to clear the track. I said 'I was two minutes early'. He said that some had pulled up 45 minutes early. It could have been because it was the first year that arrival had changed from 12 to 1pm and folk had not checked. It presented no real problem though.

Hi borderbob, my sincere apologies for the delay in responding, I have been caravanning for a good while but only just getting the hang of how to set notifications on reviews. This may help you: If your caravan or motorhome is a large unit sites like Seaview will get this info when you book, that is if you are a member and your outfit details are entered on the online booking system. On our last visit to Seaview I looked at the site plan and key fob board in reception to see which pitches were available with the great views. Not many as it was very busy and when I asked the warden what was available on the top tier he said that only three pitches were available that could take our caravan (which he identified) and they had cones on them. This is done at Seaview as not all pitches are the same size so they DO reserve pitches when they are expecting the larger units. If you book by phone they should ask what size unit you have and will make sure there is a pitch that you can take. So, when busy your choice may be limited but the wardens will make sure that there is at least one pitch big enough for you. We have a Lunar Clubman SI which is 24 feet or 7.315 meters long. Hope this helps and again, my apologies for the delay responding. We are back at Seaview next week on another five stop tour up to Scotland. Enjoy your travels.

Hi Tinwheeler. My apologies for not grasping how to follow or turn on notification for comments. I have only just found these responses. May I add a comment to the arrival times at Seaview. It is a rather restricted access as you will have seen but this becomes a big problem when arrivals turn up at anything from 11.30 which then makes leaving the site difficult. I had one big issue when we had a Sunday lunch booked but couldn't get out of the site at about 12.15. I now give plenty of time and leave early if we have a booking. I then go down to the parking area at the far end of Spittal and admire the sea view for a while then off for lunch. Saves getting stuck in the queue of early arrivals. I have also posted a (rather late) reply to borderbob. Enjoy your travels.
