First Time Motorhome Touring Experience

We decided to come to Blackshaw moor as it's our first venture out in the motorhome [daisy] and easily accessable from where we live. We arrived at the site not sure what to expect even though we had gonr through all the infomation on line, the welcome and information by the staff was really good and offered a few tips to us. The site lovely with good views of the roaches and winking man surrounded by fields and open skies, it's quiet and tranquil. We really enjoyed our break with max our dog it's fired us up to do more touring but we will not forget our first time. we will return again I am sure for another break. Thanks to all the staff for a lovely stay.

Our first C&M site!

We stayed here for the May Bank Holiday weekend as a family of 5 (2 adults and 3 young children) - this was our first stay at a Caravan & Motorhome Club site as we are new members! It had also been a long time since we had taken our tourer away! The site is lovely, so peaceful!! We were based on the middle level and could occasionally hear the noise of the road but it never bothered us, we have been to much noiseier places! The pitch we had was lovely and plenty of room for our children to run and play. The staff were very welcoming when we arrived! The lady who booked us in was so lovely and even offered us a pitch that she had saved for a family (which was going to used as a seasonal pitch) as it was near to the park... this was lovely of her! The site is also very family friendly, the children enjoyed a scavanger hunt of the site which were given to the children on arrival along with an activity pack! We would definitely stay here again!

Lovely stay

We stayed here for 4 nights recently. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for peace and quiet. Staff very obliging. Although our pitch was next to the main road, the traffic didn't disturb us. Two lovely pubs close by, both good food and friendly staff. We will definitely be booking on again if we are in the area. Thank you Blackshaw Moor.

Warm welcome on arrival, very well maintained site, but traffic noise was an issue

We were very warmly welcomed on our arrival, and were pleased with the standard of maintenance on the site. The site is terraced, and having chosen a higher pitch we had impressive views of the surrounding peaks including the dramatic Roaches. The site is right next to the A53 between Leek and Buxton, which meant easy access by car to both towns, but even on the upper part of the site traffic noise was a constant issue from early morning until night, including heavy vehicles pulling up the hills, or idiotic speed lovers accelerating to the top. The open nature of the countryside meant the sound carried for some distance. Another problem of a location like this is the difficulty of cycling from the site, though for the rides we wanted to do, the Manifold Trail and Rudyard Lake, we chose to take our bikes in the car anyway. We found Leek to be a very characterful town with independent shops (though also a large Sainsburys on the outskirts), and Buxton very impressive and enjoyable around the Pavilion Gardens but somewhat let down by the shopping streets.

Lovely Site

We visited this site last week and loved it. We had a very friendly and helpful greeting. The pitches are large and beautifully spaced out and the site is immaculate, you can feel the commitment the Managers put into the site to make it what it is. It was very quiet and peaceful and the bird life was lovely

Brilliant place

Really enjoyed our time here. Had a lovely pitch with great facilities. Plenty to see and do in the local area too. Can’t wait to return!

Lovely Stay

Visited Blackshaw Moor in the lovely weather 3 weeks ago. Our usual site is Buxton but decided to try Blackshaw Moor instead, what a lovely surprise. On our arrival which was late we were greeted by Tina, what a welcoming lady. Tina was kind enough to cancel and re book another site for us, thank you. The site is well laid out with spacious pitches, clean facilities and a good dog walking area on site. The site backs on to the road which can be quite noisy so would suggest moving towards the middle/top of the site. Thank you to Phil, Bev, Tina and Tim for making us so welcome. See you soon.

Extended weekend away

We haven't been to this site before but it was recommended and we can see why. It is a lovely peaceful site with very helpful wardens and although it was a little damp to say the least it was a thoroughly enjoyable few days away. We will definitely return in the future.

Fabulous location for young family

We have recently just had 4 nights at the Blackshaw Moor site. We were greeted by Sally, one of our site wardens. She was so lovely and paid a real interest in our children, she provided us with activities for around the site and colouring sheets we could do with the children. She really cared, we immediately felt home from home. The site has a lovely little playground and a fab baby/toddler bathroom with a bath and shower which is so easy with a baby and toddler! There’s a delicious pizza take out in Leek which is a 5 minute drive away. Albertos Pizza. Really fresh, thin, Italian pizzas. Alton towers about 15/20 minutes from site and Buxton is also 15/20 minutes away which has lovely shops and pavilion gardens with play areas and gardens. A fantastic trip. Thank you.

Helpful and friendly site

Access on this site is good and the hardstanding areas have plenty of room, be sure to take a sledgehammer with you as even with hardened steel screw in pegs, pinning down the awning was nearly impossible, in fact several other campers commented on the same issue. Apart from that, the facilities were good and clean and the staff were very welcoming and helpful. We visited the "Ye Olde Inn" just a mile up the road, they have only been open 6 weeks at the time of our visit but they are dog friendly and the quality of the food was excellent.
