A lovely site that needs a little more attention

We stayed here three nights whilst touring in the area. The site is within a walled area and has a good feel to it. There are some trees within the site and it was pleasant to sit out. The play area is in a second section to the site, which is nice if one wants to avoid the (pleasant) noise of children enjoying themselves. However, we felt that the standard of cleaning was not up to the mark. By the evening, the facilities were starting to smell a little and look in need of a second cleaning. It wasn't up to the standard that we are used to in Club facilities. We also found that we had to use a long extension lead because the hook-up point next to our pitch was full. I am not sure why, but it would be a good idea to label the hookups with pitch numbers. Otherwise, this site is in an ideal location for exploring the area.

Great location, promising site - shame about the details

This is a Club affiliated site and if you come here fresh from using Club sites, the difference in standards and expectation is sadly noticeable. The location, close to Stirling and the Trossachs area could hardly be better, and access from the A84 is very easy, making it convenient to visit these places. The site lies in the beautiful Blair Drummond grounds, and is largely set in a most attractive walled area, which at first glance is very impressive. The welcome and information at Reception was fine, but selecting a pitch was not straightforward. Pitch demarcation was not consistent, and pitch sizes also varied quite a bit. The general condition of many pitches left a bit to be desired, being weedy with unkempt grass edges. The hard standing pitch we used was just that - very hard indeed, destroying a rock peg, and eventually a mallet, as we set up our awning. Some others appeared to have the same experience, whilst others had no problem. Some pitch refurbishment is need to provide users with a consistently good experience. unfortunately, the story continued in the shower/toilet block which at first glance appears modern, but on closer inspection is tired in many respects, and worse, appears poorly cleaned and maintained, with mould on shower cubicle skirting boards. Drainage in the showers was poor, leading to users standing in water running from the next door cubicle, and overall these facilities were inadequate both in number and quality, falling quite a bit short of general Club standards. TV reception is clearly indicated as poor, but the site does try to help by offering the free loan of Freeview boxes and connections, which is to be applauded. However, a number of the connection points on pitches were broken, and it is simply not good enough to tape on an additional connection to your neighbour's and try out a selection of cables till one is found which reaches. If you are going to persevere with this system, please repair/replace broken connections where necessary - that's what a proper business would do. Overall our stay here would have to judged as mixed. Great location, lovely surroundings, but let down by too many aspects of the facilities provided. If this site is to live up to its location, and justify its links with the Club, and as such, its prices, a good deal of improvement will have to be made. Sadly we do not plan to return until that has taken place.

An excellent site

We did an overnight stop here whilst travelling home - what a fabulous location! the peaceful walled garden location is lovely, and the facilities are the best. There are woodland walks in the estate, straight from the site, good helpful warden and everything immaculate and clean. just a short walk away is the Smiddy, a good farm-shop and restaurant - highly recommended!

Blair Drummond site visit

We visited this affiliated club site, for a 2 x night stay in June 2019. We really enjoyed our stay there. The location is wonderful, set within the beautiful countryside. We selected a lovely pitch, in the middle of the walled garden - most of the pitches are pretty flat. The toilet block was clean, and enough showers and WC's, but appeared a little dated compared to actual club sites - but were very clean which was the main thing. Outside of the walled garden, there was a walk through the forest, where one can take different paths, which was absolutely lovely. We spotted a Red Squirrel whilst walking through there, which was fantastic to see. Outside of the site, you can take a path, which is fine for cycling, and take in the lake nearby, and the wonderful River Teith (where we were are told Otters & Kingfishers exist), and undertake a circular walk ........if cycling the whole route (which we did), there is a section on the path that virtually becomes non-existent, because of long grass etc. However, we managed to walk our bikes through, so all was fine The staff at the site were wonderful, and were super friendly & helpful. The TV reception in that area is woeful. There are booster plug ins at each pitch, but there connection did not match ours. The staff loaned us a booster cable, but although it connected to their booster post, the other end did not fit into our TV. So the staff then lent us a Freeview Sat box - but again, we couldn't use it as we did not have a Scart plug in our tele. None of this really mattered to us as we had DVD's etc .......but next time we will take an assortment of leads to overcome, or by then we will have a Satellite dish & receiver etc !! The bus stop is at the end of the lane - we caught a bus to Stirling, which took 20 mins., and cost £15 for the 2 of us for the return journey. The Safari Park is nearby too. All in all, a great stay in a wonderful location, with charming helpful staff. Can't wait to return.

A stay in a walled garden!

Situated away from the A84 - main road from Stirling. This site is based in and around a walled garden, with plenty of pitches to choose from and with an area for families, play area available. We were welcomed by friendly wardens and helped us with the television - be aware only Satellite TV available. Facilities are well maintained and clean, but there was no recycling. A fish & chip van visited on the Friday & Saturday. Even though we had a wet week, the site was a great base to walk from and we visited Stirling, the Trossachs National Park and Loch Lomond. We will definitely use this site again.

A Wonderful Haven

We made a last minute booking to this site and really pleased that we did. Our welcome was friendly and informative. Once set up found that our Avtex TV did not work and we were given a digital aerial for the site. It unfortunately did not work but Paula tried her best in offering us different aerials leads, etc. This was not a problem for us but is something worth noting. The site is immaculate and the walks through the estate a great bonus. Only a ten minute drive to Stirling and near so many places to explore our time was well spent in this area. Would definitely recommend this site for a peaceful and relaxing break.

Pleasant and Peaceful Site - Great Location

We stayed here in late August. Set just off the A84 main road from Stirling to Callander this site is a little gem situated inside what was in a previous life a walled garden. Lovely location with immaculately maintained grounds and lovely manicured lawns between pitches. Best hard standing pitches we have come across with concrete blocks and plenty of soft spaces to peg out your awning. Toilets are well maintained and clean, but some showers are showing signs of becoming a little tired and in need of some tlc. The signs are that this was once a Caravan & Motorhome Club site by the way it is laid out and features such as electric hook up posts and service points. No TV reception but Freesat box provided FOC from the site office on request. A fish & chip van visits on Friday & Saturday evenings and is very popular. No recycling which seemed quite strange for such a well organised and maintained site. Big well equipped children’s play are, outside gas BBQ - no charge but some people didn’t appreciate that they were supposed to clean up after they used it. A great base for touring central Scotland and gateway to the Trossachs National Park and the Highlands. We shall be back.

Beautiful

1 night stop-over whilst touring West Scotland but wish we could have stayed longer. Well kept clean site, good choice of pitches. Our two cats enjoyed the woodland walks (we only take them out on harnesses/leads) nice variety of pitches - area for families (we prefer more tucked away pitches due to cats & found an area that was perfect) can't comment on facilities as we use our own but impressions were very clean & tidy. Definitely on list to return to.

Very nice quiet site, very handy for travelling to or from Scotland

From the map, it looked as tho it might be in a busy urban area, but the site is part of the Blair Drummond country estate and the the CMC section of this affiliated site is within a large walled garden. Very quiet and peaceful level hardstandings with good facilities, tho a bit offputting to see dogs being walked around to do their 'business' on the grassed areas close to the caravans. I cant imagine spending a lot of time here, but its a great location for an overnight stay travelling to or from Scotland.
