Great location, promising site - shame about the details

This is a Club affiliated site and if you come here fresh from using Club sites, the difference in standards and expectation is sadly noticeable. The location, close to Stirling and the Trossachs area could hardly be better, and access from the A84 is very easy, making it convenient to visit these places. The site lies in the beautiful Blair Drummond grounds, and is largely set in a most attractive walled area, which at first glance is very impressive. The welcome and information at Reception was fine, but selecting a pitch was not straightforward. Pitch demarcation was not consistent, and pitch sizes also varied quite a bit. The general condition of many pitches left a bit to be desired, being weedy with unkempt grass edges. The hard standing pitch we used was just that - very hard indeed, destroying a rock peg, and eventually a mallet, as we set up our awning. Some others appeared to have the same experience, whilst others had no problem. Some pitch refurbishment is need to provide users with a consistently good experience. unfortunately, the story continued in the shower/toilet block which at first glance appears modern, but on closer inspection is tired in many respects, and worse, appears poorly cleaned and maintained, with mould on shower cubicle skirting boards. Drainage in the showers was poor, leading to users standing in water running from the next door cubicle, and overall these facilities were inadequate both in number and quality, falling quite a bit short of general Club standards. TV reception is clearly indicated as poor, but the site does try to help by offering the free loan of Freeview boxes and connections, which is to be applauded. However, a number of the connection points on pitches were broken, and it is simply not good enough to tape on an additional connection to your neighbour's and try out a selection of cables till one is found which reaches. If you are going to persevere with this system, please repair/replace broken connections where necessary - that's what a proper business would do. Overall our stay here would have to judged as mixed. Great location, lovely surroundings, but let down by too many aspects of the facilities provided. If this site is to live up to its location, and justify its links with the Club, and as such, its prices, a good deal of improvement will have to be made. Sadly we do not plan to return until that has taken place.
