Good for families

Surprised at the Club

We've stayed on this site several times over the years when it was "Adult Only" and it appears little has changed since being taken over by the Club. Many of the pitches, which you could pre-book, are very tight and you will struggle on some of them to get a large unit, awning and car on. So I'm surprised the Club opening the site before developing it. Likewise the toilet facilities. I would call them "adequate", when the site had only 2 persons per pitch. Now it's open to families I think they will be found wanting when the site's full. Plus, the toilets have been "tired"for some time and need updating. I can see this being a great site in years to come, there's plenty of room to expand, but it needs developing to get up to your normal Club standard.

It is good to read an honest review from some one who can see what the club have taken on rather than the "rose tinted glasses"attitude of some on the thread that was started when it was first announced  thatthe site was now part of a fully inclusive organisation

I don't find it surprising that the CC opened the site for the season 'as is'. There were already bookings and deposits taken from customers. As a design engineer before retirement I would want a full survey being taken out including surveys of existing drainage, electricity and water supply runs. Then it would be a question of deciding on any amendments to layouts and pitches that may be required along with facility upgrades. Employing design engineers unless the CC has sufficient of their own. As there was a question of the adequacy of electric supplies that could well require consultations with Electricity supply company. Might well need to consult planning department and licensing authority. All these things take time. After planning and designing changes there are then contract documents to prepare, followed by probably a minimum of two months to get on site with construction. The site would probably have been unused for at least 6 months if not opened.
