A nice, small campsite

Stayed here for one night last week. We had a lovely flat pitch - didn’t need any form of ramps. Only negative was that due to its location, it was rather shady in the morning. The service point was handy at the end of our ‘cul-de-sac’. The road alongside was very busy but it didn’t affect our sleep. We will return for a longer visit as it seems to be central to a few interesting places.

Impossible bus timetables.

We visited this camp site in our motor home. The site is well situated and is on 2 levels. The rear of the upper level is adjacent to the main road from which we heard traffic noise. On an evening there were motor bikes that thought they were racing around Donnington Park. The pitches are well laid out and the grounds are very well kept with some areas left to nature for wildlife. One of the reasons we chose this site was because there was a bus stop right outside the entrance where buses could be caught to Hereford and Worcester and towns in-between. Well we thought there were buses. Upon our arrival the wardens handed information on the bus services and said 'your not planning on using the buses are you. Ever had that sinking feeling that your well made plans were about to go down the drain. The bus service is near enough non-existent. There must be many other people visiting this site that find it is not possible to use buses to visit cities and towns. In fact the people who pitched next to us said they had intended visiting places via bus We have learnt from this now and even when we see that there is public transport we will research but routes and timetables before booking a site. Personally I feel that if a site says there is public transport within a mile and it turns out that buses are few and far between it needs mentioning in the site details. Unfortunately two of the places we wanted to visit, Hereford and Worcester we did not get to.

Can we have more sites like Bromyard please?

We've just had a 10 night stay at this site. There is so much to do in this area. Lot's of National Trust places to visit. And further afield there is canoeing on the River Wye, The Severn Valley Railway, The West Midland Safari park. We've only just started to explore the West Midlands and Herefordshire. The scenery is beautiful. We prefer these basic facility sites. no toilet block but only £17 per night. It is cheaper than some of our favourite CLs and we have the security of wardens on site. I wish the club could find more locations like this. A disused quarry, but made so attractive by the team on site.

Great experience start to finish.

Great site, super clean and well kept. Upon arrival we were greeted by Carolyn & John, they explained everything to us (we're still new to this), John went ahead to the pitch to run through a few things with us and we got started setting up. The booking was for my wife and I, and our five children (although the eldest daughter didn't come in the end) and I can't help think, having met Carolyn & John that they put us on the pitch they did because of the kids, end pitch with a huge grass area immediately next to us, and a lovely grass area in front where we set up the badminton, it was the perfect spot for us. Whilst we were setting up Carolyn came out with some gifts and activities for the kids to keep them occupied, lovely touch, and it worked. Facilities available are exactly as described, not sure why people feel the need to keep mentioning what isn't there in their reviews - the facilities that are present are spotless. Carolyn & John are clearly very proud of their site and of the area, they couldn't have been more helpful or knowledgable when it came to activities and places to visit, and they spoke with such enthusiasm. On the second day unfortunately our eldest son Henry came off his bike and had quite a nasty cut on his elbow, again Carolyn was there with advice and even printed off details of the nearest hospitals in case he needed to go, thankfully he was fine, but the first thing John did the next day when I saw him in the morning was ask after Henry. The site wants for nothing upkeep wise, John was out every day, cutting the grass, tending to the beautiful flowers which are all around the site, re-marking pitches, evening felling trees, he was non-stop, but somehow did it without disturbing anyone. On the day of departure we ran over by about 40 minutes, I asked John if we owed anything, and he just smiled and said "have you had a nice stay", I said it had been great, and he said "that's all that matters". He knew we are still learning and he explained we'd get quicker the more we did it. So off we went, and the final touch was Carolyn there at reception to wave us off. Just a great place, great people, great experience, we will certainly return.

The Warden Judith gets 5 Stars from me for pre arrival help!

Having struggled to compile a 10 day stay with five separate bookings I began to despair at getting the two missing nights. I rang Judith and to our joyful grateful surprise she sorted the missing nights and changed one pitch type so they are all with awning. Without her help a 19 day tour would have risked being reduced to us heading home after 6 nights. Wonderful Warden Help. Thank you

Lovely place to stay

We stayed here for a night last week and couldn't be happier. As new motorhomers, we're still learning the ropes about what our new motorhome does and how things work. The welcome was very friendly and our water tank was filled up for us on arrival, which was an additional, great bonus. Very highly recommended for a peaceful place to stay, about 2 miles outside the local town centre of Bromyard. Would definitely stay again.

A real gem!

This is a pretty, well maintained site split over 2 levels of an old quarry. It maybe next to an A Road, but noise is not a problem. Its not ideal for families as there are no facilities. However if you want a sleepy, secluded getaway and have your own onboard facilities, then this site is perfect! Fantastic walks from the site, a lovely NT estate to explore, and if you feel the need for a trip to Hereford or Worcester there’s a bus stop at the site entrance. I have to say that the wardens here are the nicest and most helpful people you could wish for!

Stay September 21

Beautifully kept site. Wardens excellent and very friendly. Really made us feel welcome. Pitched on uneven grass. We were shown to our pitch and helped to site even provided levelling blocks. The flowers around reception area were beautiful and there were lots of little touches around site. Very peaceful and a nice area with lots of places to visit.

Great Site

When our 19yo daughter announced that caravanning with mum and dad wasn't cool any more, we of course tried everything to change her mind....! Sadly, we had to relent - she is an adult after all! We then dashed down to our caravan dealer and swapped the 4 berth fixed bed for a luxury 2 berth before she changed her mind. This new life means that we can utilise quieter sites and Bromyard Downs fits the bill perfectly. Surrounded by a plethora of 2 berths and the kids safely ensconced back in school as it was September, this was touring heaven. There are only 30 or so pitches across 2 areas so the site doesn't feel busy even if it is. Pitches can be small and are currently allocated depending on the size of outfit. Not a problem as this saves time deliberating where to pitch and there isn't a bad pitch to be had. The wardens clearly take pride in the site. It is immaculate with flower displays and grass that wouldn't look amiss on a golfing fairway. Their knowledge and passion for the local area shines through, such that we'll need to return to complete the list they gave us. There is some road noise as mentioned in other reviews, but to be honest it didn't cause any issues. We were too busy enjoying the tranquillity to notice! Excellent site and one we will definitely return to. Caravan club take note - let's have more sites like this. Modern vans have their own toilets and showers!

Little gem of a site

We had a lovely friendly welcome from both wardens who were very helpful and cheerful throughout our 2 week stay. Our allocated pitch No 2 was perfect for us with two dogs. They didn’t put any caravans on the grassy area opposite and we could take our chairs to sit out there in the sun which made it feel spacious it was a very restful stay. The flowers in the hanging baskets were very pretty the site was kept extremely neat and tidy
