Beautiful Brora

Approaching over the narrow bridge - which is not a problem when taken with care - Brora presents as a delightful site, set just 200 metres from a glorious beach which extends over a mile when the tide is right. Stephanie and I liked the site layout, with pools of pitches, many surrounding the green, affording a variety of options for those wanting to be adjacent to the facilities, and those who value a degree of privacy. The facilities will in time need updating, but are more than adequate for a site of this size. Everywhere is spotlessly maintained by the helpful wardens (I have to say that I did not recognise any of the negative observations made recently but on that topic, members should recognise that smaller sites with only one pair of wardens cannot offer the level of customer attention that is possible with multiple wardens). Take the centre gate or adjacent stiles to access the golf course that lies between the site and the beach, from which the walk to Brora village takes about 30 minutes along a grass path above the dunes. There you will find the well equipped Co-Operative store and further, a super bakery/ice cream shop. Walking the adjacent village road to cross the A9, step out to the Clynelish distillery for a tasting. Whilst there, do try the locally made chocolates - they are delicious.
