A homely site

Didn't find the site easy to find due to heavy rain, dark skies, and traffic as we went through Bury itself though I made it make it without getting lost. On arrival, you have to stop, contact the wardens on the intercom, drive through the first barrier and then stop again to book in. I found the wardens always friendly and helpful - so much more pleasing to arrive in torrential rain and be greeted by friendliness and helpfulness. The weather meant that quite a few of the older hard standing pitches had puddles. I pitched up on the outer ring of pitches - great view of the railway but the wifi was pitiful (should be silver). Toilet block is being renovated - should be finished in a week or so. Plenty of walks from the site but given it rains frequently (take good waterproofs), you and the dog will probably come back muddied. Excellent motorhome service point. Site layout good. You can walk into Bury off road but take a good map or instructions. There is a good shopping centre, supermarkets, and the famous Bury Market. If going on the railway, the line into Bury and to Heywood is industrial; the line up to Rawtenstall is much more attractive. Despite heavy showers and strong winds rocking the van, I thoroughly enjoyed the bracing weather and my stay.
