A lovely site

Super site in a lovely setting, did think looking at the pictures it was right at the side of the Reservoir. didnt realise it was a 30 minute walk . Nicely spaced out pitches clean facilities and best ever dog walk all around the site. Visitor centre at Carsington Water worth a visit Lovely to sit outside on the terrace despite the awful weather. Dovedale is a must beautiful walk along the river so Riley had lots of swims Went to Tissington for the Well Dressing . what a lovely village worth a visit at any time. Only had one meal out at the Knockerdown Inn just 5minute drive. Good reasonably priced food and very dog friendly. Unfortunately we had bad weather so a bit disappointing as such a lovely area

Fifth visit

I have been to Carsington five times and it has become our go to site for weekend breaks The woodland setting is lovely and depending on the pitch you get views over Carsinton Water or surrounding countryside. There are plenty of places nearby to visit and you can be involved in activities as active or relaxing as you wish. The café/restaurant at Carsington Water gives you a great view as well as good food. The facilities on site are excellent. The fish and chips on Friday nights are worth queuing for! I will be returning in a couple of weeks.

Beautiful site,

Just stayed here 30/5 for 3 nights, the site is lovely and you can get some great spots in the sun, The toilet block is clean, but if your at one end or the other on the park then its quite a walk to the toilets. It would benefit from toilet/shower facilities at either end of the park. The dog enjoyed his lovely woodland walks.

Love this site

We stayed here for the May half term holidays with our six year old daughter and five month old son, having stayed for a weekend last year we knew how beautiful it is here. The site facilities are modern and clean, with plenty of showers not to have to queue. The dog walk is one of the most picturesque of any site I’ve been to . Wardens very friendly and helpful. We like that there are areas of the site for everyone, the top being quiet and peaceful and more suitable for couples wanting to get away from it all. As a young family we have specific needs and were pleased that we were able to pitch next to the park where we could watch our daughter play all day and make so many friends. Obviously this forfeits some of the peace and quiet but it’s lovely to hear children enjoying the outdoors and they aren’t bothering those that want a more secluded pitch. The site feels smaller then it is because the pitches are nestled in clearings of trees Carsington Water Visitor Centre in close proximity, also well located to explore beautiful Derbyshire. Booked again for next year!

It's been a while

I can't believe it's been over 2 years since our last visit to Carsington. And it looks even better than we remember absolutely spotlessly clean site , nice size pitches super clean user friendly toilet block & the wardens are fabulous & continue to do a sterling job. Love the area there is loads to do & numerous places to visit in fact we went to Kedleston Hall & Park which is really nice , lovely morning coffee we even stayed longer & had lunch after a lovely walk. Even our old chap ' Archie' the westie had a little run (he's not been too good lately) that's the only downside to carsington he can't now manage the walk from site to the visitors centre. All in all an excellent visit & the lovely sunny weather was a bonus. 5* site.

Brilliant Bank Holiday

We weren't disappointed by this site this Easter weekend 2019 with its lovely aspect and easy access to Carsington Water and couldn't believe how big the site was, given you are surrounded by trees, above which the starts shone brightly every night. Felt there weren't enough recycling bins near the shower block to accommodate demand, though as this was a hot weekend perhaps more drinks were taken as visitors enjoyed the convivial atmosphere. As a general gripe and not confined to this site, it would help to know what can be recycled locally and isn't it beeter to have glass separated out? We used our bikes to reach the High Peak Trail which unfortunately can't be travelled its full length at present since a lorry demolished a bridge, but enjoyed Middelton Top and found Wirksworth charming - its heritage centre is most interesting. On the second day cycled across to the Tissington Trail and followed this to Ashbourne. Just beware if you're not used to cycling distances there are lots and lots of hills .... long ones. Beautiful countryside though and the reservoir is idyllic with plenty to do. Crich Tramway museum was visited on our way home, about 20 minutes drive from the site, and well worth a visit especially if there's an event on too, as there was over Easter.

Fantastic Easter weekend

A family of four, this was our second stay, having previously stayed in October 2016 and I would have to say the site has not changed at all, still as great as the first time. The wardens were friendly, welcoming and helpful from the moment we arrived during a busy Good Friday check-in until we left. The facilities were well-kept to high standards throughout the time we were there. Despite the site being very busy the noise levels were relatively lower than expected considering the amount of families staying. The site provides a good amount of sunshine and shade when required and the pitches were well maintained. During our stay we explored Ashbourne which was lovely and Dovedale which was an amazing place to see whether you want to take the relaxing walk from Ilam to the Stepping Stones and paddle in the stream or be more adventurous by going up Thorpe Cloud or one of the other hills in the surrounding area. We also visited Sudbury Hall grounds for an Easter egg hunt which was well worth the short drive. For eating out try The Nags Head in Hulland Ward, very welcoming atmosphere with superb pub food (huge portions, so make sure you are hungry!) and very well priced.

Amazing 5 night stay

we've been camping for years, started in a tent then moved to a campervan and this was our maiden voyage in our new caravan. We booked this site as it was fairly close to where we live and didn't want to travel too far for our first towing journey, but, I honestly think we'd be hard pushed to find a better site! It's incredibly clean, showers are always hot and there are plenty. Theres a beautiful dog walk on site, around the plantation of pine trees, surrounded by fields on one side and carsington water. the staff are super friendly and helpful. We have a 12 year old son and hardly saw him! off on his bike, making friends straight away. even though it's a large site and family friendly, it's so peaceful! we've already booked to come back.

Love this site.

Great site, in amongst the tree's you get the feeling of a small site, as usual the toilet block is very clean and user friendly, some pitches do require levelling blocks. Close to Carsington water and visitors centre which is a 30 min steady walk away, A fantastic pub can be found in Muggington called the Cock Inn, fantastic food at a reasonable price. Will be back.
