Excellent location for Cycling

Stunning location (though it rained for us) but views of Carsington water were fantastic and staff excellent. Dark at night so a great place to star watch if you can get a gap in the trees.

Spooky Halloween

Went to Carsington for 4 nights in the October half term which this year included Halloween. Lovely to see pumpkins outside caravans and motorhomes and everyone welcomed our grandchildren for "Trick or Treat". Plenty of things to do, Carsington Water Visitor Centre is within walking distance or there is a huge (but pricey) car park. The centre does not welcome dogs but the shops in the courtyard do, and there is space outside to eat.The Churnet Valley Railway had its kids halloween while we were there and that was a good visit. Peak Village at Rowsley was good as well. Plenty of shopping in Ashbourne, several dog walks on site and great staff, one of whome booked me a table at the Knockerdown pub just up the road for an evening meal. Good menu there, looked pricey at first sight but only £55 for six of us, so quite reasonable. Recommended! Information room is small but plenty of information there.First visit for something like 20 years but we will come again - especially for the BBC Radio 2 in the toilets!

excellent Autumn Break

a late decision to go away, left us looking to go close to home and we are so glad we did. we had never stayed here before as it is only a short drive from our home, what a mistake that has been from the moment we arrived we got a lovely warm welcome and had everything explained to us. the staff, facilities and site were all excellent and considering the time of year you'd expect the site to be covered in leaves etc but know the staff must have worked exceptionally hard to keep it this clear and clean the toilets and showers where immaculate all in all a great weekend made all the more special by very friendly helpful staff and to their credit an immaculate site Thank you so much !

Magnificent Autumn Break

Just spent a gorgeous few days at this site. Polite, friendly and professional staff. Facilities excellent and the site overall, is very well tended. Everything appeared to be in mint condition. Ready access to Carsington Water Reservoir. A breathtaking walk around the reservoir of about 8.5 miles. A cycle route is also avaiable alongside. Visitor centre en route provides excellent opportunities for refreshment and craft shops etc with delightful views across the reservoir. The camp site is also within easy striking distance of Kedlestone Hall; the ancestral home of the Curzon family. Extending back to William the Conqueror, the Hall is rich in their family history. The outside features magnificent gardens and offers a variety of different lenghth walks with superb views of the hall. Carsington Water camp site has a lot to offer.

Beautiful Site

A lovely site, nestled in Pine Trees. I agree with other reviews and there's no reason to add more. I wouldnt hesitate in recommending and I will stay again should I be in the area.

Lovely weekend in fantastic site

What a warm and friendly welcome and stay! The site was beautifully maintained with all facilities immaculately clean, warm and welcoming. There was even a dog shower for our rather grubby dog after a walk around the reservoir! Would definitely recommend?

speed on all sites

What a lovely place to stay and very friendly staff site well run and toilets very clean with music to listen to the only problem is with some members who are still driving to fast on site most sites say first gear only someone is going to be hurt or even killed on site where it has happened in the past so it needs to be addressed by every member In the club it is hard for the wardens keep an eye on it so all members cold help them to make there jobs much easier as they have enough to do many thanks Paul from Rugeley

An excellent site

We had a lovely time at the Carsington Water site. there is lots to do here. Staff are very friendly and helpful, the site is very picturesque! It was only spoilt by dogs barking throughout the day. Also there was a scary looking Rottweiler wondering around by itself at one point which was a bit disconcerting! This is not the fault of the club of course and probably will not happen again.

Peace and tranquility

What a beautiful site. We booked last as a stop off on the return journey from Cornwall. One night wasn't enough and we will return! The site is peaceful and gloriously set amongst tall pine trees, despite there being a number of children running around the woodland setting gave a tremendous sense of space and tranquility. The site is spotlessly clean including the shower blocks. The staff are polite and professional. We could have spent days at Carsington Water, in addition to the site, the reservoir itself is superb, I enjoyed cycling the 10 miles around its perimeter. There was a large play park, visitors centre, water sports area, nature reserves. We will be back in the not too distant future!

Simply one of the best

It has all been said in the recent reviews. This site has to be one of the best. Friendly and helpful staff. Amazing shower and toilet block. All in all a wonderful stay with our son from New Zealand, and our grandchildren. If only we lived nearer, but hopefully we will return, and honestly cannot wait.
