Beautiful Derbyshire

We stayed here for a week in our Motorhome in August and experienced everything but snow! Despite that this is a great site. On a gentle slope uphill amidst tall conifers you will definitely need levellers if you don’t pitch in the first couple of areas. Being the holidays these were busy with families and close to the play areas. We went up a level which was much quieter and the design and layout of the site gave everyone plenty of space and privacy with more than ample power points nearby and water/waste/chem disposal to hand. As typical with the older sites there is only one drive over waste point near the bottom of the site but it’s easy to get at and manoeuvre around. The facilities were excellent, kept clean and the showers have constant running hot water so not messing with push buttons. All the wardens were friendly and helpful and the information room is well stocked with useful, relevant information. We took bikes to get about but the road to Ashbourne isn’t for the faint hearted so we used the local buses when available which we hailed from the site entrance. Carsington Water is perfect for walking or cycling around. Easy access at the bottom of the site access road keeps you off the main road. Just over 8 miles all the way around with a few hills on the eastern flank but easy on and ebike. We had lunch and tea in the visitors centre and the food is great and cheap. Also easy access following signs up onto the Peaks to Tissington for the more adventurous. The shop on site is very basic and to go far you need transportation so we used our membership to gain money off and hired from Enterprise, Derby, who for no extra cost picked us up and delivered us back to the site. Well worth doing and extremely reasonable.
