Good for families

Fantastic Easter weekend

A family of four, this was our second stay, having previously stayed in October 2016 and I would have to say the site has not changed at all, still as great as the first time. The wardens were friendly, welcoming and helpful from the moment we arrived during a busy Good Friday check-in until we left. The facilities were well-kept to high standards throughout the time we were there. Despite the site being very busy the noise levels were relatively lower than expected considering the amount of families staying. The site provides a good amount of sunshine and shade when required and the pitches were well maintained. During our stay we explored Ashbourne which was lovely and Dovedale which was an amazing place to see whether you want to take the relaxing walk from Ilam to the Stepping Stones and paddle in the stream or be more adventurous by going up Thorpe Cloud or one of the other hills in the surrounding area. We also visited Sudbury Hall grounds for an Easter egg hunt which was well worth the short drive. For eating out try The Nags Head in Hulland Ward, very welcoming atmosphere with superb pub food (huge portions, so make sure you are hungry!) and very well priced.
