Peaceful site

Just returned home from our first visit to this lovely site. It's only an hour & a half from home so it certainly won't be our last visit. Ideally situated 10 minutes walk from Carsington reservoir where we spent our first day wandering around its well signed footpaths. There's a nice visitors centre with a few shops & reasonably priced restaurant that has an outside balcony for a good view of all the watersport activity going. Plenty of bird life both on the water and in the surrounding countryside. The club site does have some shady areas under very tall trees so if you like the sun all day you need to pick your pitch carefully. The toilet block was immaculate during our stay and best of all NO PLASTIC STOOL IN THE SHOWERS!! The showers were lovely, plenty of room, plenty of hooks and the built in seat in the "dressing area" was great......not so keen on the radio playing in the facilities but willing to put up with that just for the absence of the dreaded plastic stool!!! Very little noise from the main road. Wardens friendly & helpful. The Bakewell Bakery delivers THE BEST Bakewell tart to the site and by all accounts they sell very quickly....didn't take us long to realise why. There are 2 play areas on the site one caters for young children the other for older more adventurous play. We didn't move our camper van whilst we were there, preferring to walk locally but know from previous visits to the area there are plenty of places of interest to both young & old within a very short driving distance
