Spooky Halloween

Went to Carsington for 4 nights in the October half term which this year included Halloween. Lovely to see pumpkins outside caravans and motorhomes and everyone welcomed our grandchildren for "Trick or Treat". Plenty of things to do, Carsington Water Visitor Centre is within walking distance or there is a huge (but pricey) car park. The centre does not welcome dogs but the shops in the courtyard do, and there is space outside to eat.The Churnet Valley Railway had its kids halloween while we were there and that was a good visit. Peak Village at Rowsley was good as well. Plenty of shopping in Ashbourne, several dog walks on site and great staff, one of whome booked me a table at the Knockerdown pub just up the road for an evening meal. Good menu there, looked pricey at first sight but only £55 for six of us, so quite reasonable. Recommended! Information room is small but plenty of information there.First visit for something like 20 years but we will come again - especially for the BBC Radio 2 in the toilets!
