Helpful and Understanding Wardens !

Last week we booked 3 nights at Castleton ( we've been many times before ) The site is always spotless and the wardens always very good. I feel I must just give extra praise to the wardens, especially the one who dealt with us on this occasion. During our first day and during the night I was taken ill, and we had to leave the next morning. The warden my wife dealt with was so helpful and understanding of how something can change in a short time, including when you have looked forwards to getting away on a break. It's great when wardens show they are humans too, and understand the need for an understanding and caring attitude towards members, well done and thank you !!!

Very lovely Place

We stay unfortunately only for two nights on this great place inside the Peak District. Absolute clean, a warm welcome and a super friendly Service to search and retain our next pitch on the way from Wales to South. A Game Room for Ping Pong and Billiard is here - this is strange and superb ! Around the Place many nice Restaurants, some interest Shops where you can get rid of your Money and much Ways to explore, for Kids Ice cream, Sweetie Shop and Pizza - for Mom and Dad some nice Bars for a cool Drink... And a big Castle Ruin on the Top ! Well, so have Fun ! Jochen & Gabriele Auer, Germany

Beautiful peaceful site

Lovely little site. Easy flat walk to the village which is very pretty. Local shops and plenty of pubs. Caves within easy reach as is Peveril Castle. Lots of walks in the area. Will visit again.

Lovely clean and tidy site

Lovely site, really handy for Castleton and Hope (easy walk to both) and all the activities they offer. Toilets, showers etc.. and washing up areas are really well kept and clean. Loved the "help yourself" herb garden too. Check in was easy and efficient even though we didn't arrive until 1900. One of the quietest sites we have ever stayed on and we were amazed at how many people just spent all evening sat in their very expensive vans just watching TV! This was a shame as we felt there was very little atmosphere on the site even though both evenings were lovely and we are used to people sitting outside and chatting to each other. There is a nice dog walk on site and our dog was shattered from doing the Mam Tor and Losehill walk.

Perfect location

Lovely clean site with good facilities. Staff helpful and friendly on check in. Easy stroll in to Castleton with a selection of pubs that is astounding for the size of the place. Most are dog friendly. Great fresh made baguettes from the shop on the high street. Loads of great walks from the site. Spoilt slightly from lots of early vehicle movements though it was a Friday.

dog fouling

No complaints of staff or site, but some dog owners walk dogs around site and allow them to foul pitches on a regular basis.

First time stay

Having stayed at another Club Site and CL for our Peak District holiday, we chose Castleton to be in a slightly different area and we were not disappointed! A 1pm queue to enter was swiftly dealt with by one of the wardens seeing us through the barrier with the advice “find a pitch and come back in an hour when you’re settled to pay” - very efficient! Other sites take note! The site is ideally situated for buses to Bakewell (including Monsal Head to see the viaduct and part of the Monsal Trail there. It’s just about 7 minutes walk into the lovely town of Castleton with it’s village stores, pubs and Blue John stone jewellers. There are also many circular walks taking in fabulous Mam Tor. The site staff are extremely helpful and informative when asked questions, and they keep the site bright and cheerful with lots of flowers and even a herb garden to help oneself to. The site facilities are immaculately clean and a real credit to them. Absolutely loved our 4 nights here and will happily return.

Excellent Site

We stayed at Castleton for 1 night only, as a quick stop to see the Blue John Caverns and Lady Bower reservoir. The site was very welcoming, very well kept and clean as a whistle. Very pretty site with stunning views of the rolling hills. Castleton is one of the prettiest  little villages I’ve ever seen, with lovely stone cottages and a wonderful backdrop. Very convenient for the Treak Cliff Cavern, which is very educational. Wish we had stayed longer and taken more time to take in this beautiful site and it’s surroundings.

Castleton break

An absolute gem of a site. Wardens really welcoming and informative - nothing too much trouble. Very clean with a dog walk and dog cleaning facilities. Only a short walk to the town and the local places of interest. Can’t wait to go back.

Castleton Club Site

This is a really good site and rather popular. We were very pleased to see notices about "quiet times", "speed limits", "control of children and pets". We stay at rural sites to enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside away from the noise of the city we live with normally. We will be back to Castleton soon.
