Good for families

Needs refurbishment

We stayed here for 5 nights recently in early June. The site is very well located, 5 minutes walk to the village where there are 3 small food shops & a nice friendly pub. We had Sunday lunch in the pub, good food at a reasonable price. The beach is about a 10 minute walk, lovely sandy bay but a steep walk up & down. Buses to Scarborough, Filey & Bridlington stop outside the gate & run about every 20 minutes, very convenient. We were however disappointed in the site itself. We realise the club only acquired this site in 2018 & it needs a lot of work to bring it up to club standards. The layout of the pitches is strange in places (1 pitch behind another) & some of the pitches & the roadways need resurfacing. There are 4 different pitch types, so it took us ages to find a suitable pitch we could actually go on.The shower & toilet blocks were a bit shabby & had push button showers where you couldn't regulate the temperature, set too hot for me. They were however kept clean as we would expect on a club site. The wardens were helpful & doing a good job in difficult circumstances. We feel that in view of all the improvements needed, the pitch price should have been cheaper than it was, we didn't get good value for what we paid. We think this will be a lovely site once it has been brought up to club standards, we won't return until it has. Hope the prices are not too high after the refurb too.
