Worse Site ive visited

I have been caravaning for nearly twenty years I have until now , never left a bad review but I have never been to a worse site, my list of issues include : Unkept pitches : pitches between users are not repaired the pitch we were offered was 40% mud from constant use throughout the season and grass didn’t look to have been cut for weeks with dog mess in the grass. Toilet blocks : insufficient for the amount of pitches by a long way , far to many people compare with the amount of available toilets and showers, i rise early so no issue to me but my kids had to queue for a shower any time past 8am , caravan next to mine complained that he had to queue for over an hour to get a shower. Internet : there is WiFi onsite but when request made at reception I was told that I was in the wrong part of the site, I checked from my pitch and was receiving 4 bars , but apparently I wasn’t allowed it even though I was prepared to pay..... go figure. Pitches : didn’t look to be any pitch management, seemed to be roughly 2 or 3 foot between an awning and the next caravan , so really were packed in like sardines, cars parked all over ,with no consideration for who goes where, so us with 15 and 17 year olds were on top of the play area , whilst it looked as if many with children who did use the play area were placed a long way from the play area, I know this as they screamed past on their way there Noise : if looking for a quite site avoid like the plague, music and kids screaming well past 10. Scenery : if you want a view , look elsewhere ,from the window all I could see was other caravans. Laundry: they use a token system, apparently 6 tokens is all they have for the entire site, which isn’t great considering it takes 2 tokens to do a wash and a dry at least 3 tokens , we were told this after we had completed a wash and wanted to use the dryer, so we ended up at a local laundromat . Shop prices were nothing short of extortion £1.20 for 2 pints , I opted for Morrison’s £1.25 for 4 pints I can’t say anything regarding the wardens as I didn’t see any, apart from a guy emptying the bins each morning, which is the only plus point I have, bins were always emptied ! For those asking why didn’t you complain, I went to do just that, but there was already a queue of people looking to do the same. I know this is a recent purchase for the CMC, but this experience has totally made me rethink being a member.

Don't know the site at all but if you've been caravanning (a member?) for 20 years I wouldn't let one experience, no matter how bad, put you off club membership! smile

It’s just one site which is new to the club and not yet brought up to the standard of other club sites. I reckon it could well be different next year but perhaps it’s a site to avoid until the work's done.

In 20yrs?and one site that has only been in club ownership a very short time, makes you rethink membership?really!!!undecided

ps have you bought a pint of milk from your local milkman,?you cannot compare prices of anything from store that do not own or have the buying power of huge supermarket chainsfrown (to the detriment of dairy farmersyell)

read this review with great interest. does the club just take over or is their a adjustment period. perhaps better to wait till site up to club standards before inviting members to a less than expected site. I only use club sites as the expected cleanliness, rules, pitches are always as expected. look foreward to future revews as this  is a great town

JN, the club took over this site earlier in the year and decided to let it run very much 'as is' for this season. I understand it will be refurbished in coming months.

It's unrealistic to expect the club to upgrade it immediately and I guess the alternative would have been to close it which would be a financial faux pas and would have denied anyone the chance to use it this year.
