Disappointing

This was the most expensive site we've booked this year (£44.10 per night for a standard pitch) so we had high hopes of a stunning site. We were very disappointed to find that most of the better located pitches were taken - the site doesn't let anyone on site until after 1.00pm but they do allow them to wait in the lane which means they get let on the site first and those of us who arrive after 1.00pm get the pitches that are left. Our pitch was cramped and we had a lot of noise from neighbouring pitches - the neighbours weren't particularly noise, just very close. The site no longer has bins at the service points as the site staff are reducing the amount of plastic used (which is good news) however they have large Biffa bins in front of the toilet block and these are an eyesore - especially with the lids propped open. The only good thing about the site was the gate into the parkland and the lovely walks around the area - we loved the area but won't return to this site.

Having read your review I am a little baffled that you are complaining that you didn't get 'the best pitch' on the site ? how rude of the site staff not knowing that you were coming and allowing you to choose your spot before anyone else was allowed on !
If you wanted a guaranteed spot then you should have booked a serviced pitch.
The site prices are clearly shown when booking so please don't complain it was expensive as you had ample opportunity to go elsewhere.
Chatsworth is a very popular site in a very beautiful area so I am sure that your reservation would have been quickly snapped up if you had cancelled.

I understand exactly where SB/KB is coming from. Pac-Man was probably front of the queue arriving well before one to secure his ‘guaranteed spot’.We had booked a non- awning pitch as this was all there was left so we were limited to certain spots. No, we didn’t leave it until the last minute to book,we booked twelve months before as it was for the Country Fair, all pitches were booked within five minutes. After being  told definitely not to arrive before1pm we parked up nearby for thirty minutes so as not to arrive early. We entered the lane leading to the site at exactly 1pm, more luck than management. Surprise! Surprise! At least twenty outfits were before us lining up on the lane. These outfits blocked the lane therefore anyone wanting to leave the site had no chance to get out. The first ones must have arrived much earlier than1pm.We were left with a pitch which was also very cramped. The open awning of the caravan next to us was a car’s width plus a couple of feet from our windows. There was no privacy for them as they were so close, not much peace for us either.
