Great little site, very handy for Cheltenham and the Cotswolds

Great little site, its not your usual camp site with grassy secluded pitches but has a good area with grass where units with awnings can be pitched and other pitches which are dotted around the car park. We had a fabulous view of the racecourse and the hills beyond. Its a good and inventive use of the racecourse when its not running events. Very quite and peaceful, good toilet block, very friendly staff and easy to walk or bus into Cheltenham. What more could you want for a very reasonable price, I'll stay here again.

Its a car park

We only used as a stop over on the way to Cornwall from Yorkshire. Very uninspiring site. Its basically a car park. All concrete and very sloped. Views are of the grandstand or a few retail buildings. The only great thing was the circular walk around the racecourse that the dog loved. Certainly wouldn't want to holiday here.

Excellent

Excellent site, small and quiet. Wonderful views. Good facilities and very friendly helpful staff, who were relief wardens at the time of our visit. Good site for a Motorhome user as easy access to nearby park and ride to visit Cheltenham. Nice walk across the racecourse to the steam railway, lovely few hours on the steam train to Broadway and back. Good dog walking around the outside of the race course . Lovely country pubs walking distance. Enjoyed our visit will return.

Great views

This site has fantastic views over the the racecourse to the hills. There is a park and ride stop very close by and it’s only a short ride into the town centre. There are grass pitches and lots of hard standing on the forecourt areas in front and behind the stands. Good long dog walk all the way round the racetrack. Really lovely spot will definitely go back.

Hot air balloon festival - Cheltenham Racecourse site

We had never been to Cheltenham before and with a hot air balloon festival scheduled for the weekend we decided to stop over for a long weekend. What a great location for motorhome owners, just 1-1/2 miles from the centre of Cheltenham, adjacent to a park and ride and just a short walk to the Gloucestershire Warwickshire steam railway station or to the Pittville Park with its attractions of lake, cafes and children’s playground. It is a great shame this racecourse site with its excellent views has so many severely unlevel pitches especially the hard standing ones with views. It is something I feel the Club should be emphasising in the site description, yet there is only a mention of this in the site's accessibility statement. In spite of the sloping nature of the whole site, without which we would not have had a grandstand view of the balloon festival, we would use this site again just for the excellent access it offers to local facilities. If you do decide to visit this site and want hard stadings, don't forget to bring a healthy collection of levelling blocks.

Excelent Wardens

Due to my son being on a months placement at the Town's hospital, by far the cheapest way for him to stay was to use this site and pitch our motorhome. This came with a few logistical issues but even after the reception should have closed on a Sunday afternoon the Wardens still tried to contact the Club's Head Office to resolve. We finally managed to sort on the Monday morning but cannot thank them enough for their patience and dedication. I have have called and spoken to them a couple of times during the stay and again have resolved my issues without fuss or bother. My thanks goes to them both- sadly I don't know their names but they are a credit to the club wardens The site is spotlessly clean, and has wonderful views- not as a 20 yr old will appreciate them!!!

Great site, very convenient for Cheltenham Town Centre

This site was ideal for our short stay to visit the Cheltenham Town Hall for a concert. Only a pleasant 20 minute walk into Cheltenham with regular bus service just outside the site. The site is actually in the Cheltenham Racecourse facility and all the pitches are on a tarmac car park that gentle slop towards to the race track. Great views of Cleeve Hill and it is very quiet and peaceful. While the showers and loos are a bit dated they are clean and efficient. Washing up and laundry areas if needed are fine too. Good prices if you don't need EHU. Will definitely stay here again if going to Cheltenham for any reason.

Early wake up call

We where very disappointed to be woken up by a knock on our van at 7.25 on Sunday morning by the Warden looking for payment, despite being booked in & the office was not due to open until 9. Really not impressed by the attitude & lack of sincerity of apology.
