Nice site, busy at the weekends

We spent 5 nights at Clumber Park at the beginning of August. We arrived on a Friday around 4pm and the site was already very busy, especially around the playground area, this was fine for us as we were happy to head to the other side of the site. The site did seem to clear on the Sunday/Monday while we were there making the weekdays on the site a little quieter. If you are looking for a quiet pitch I would suggest heading away from the play area it can remain busy into the late evening and with children in our van a quieter area means a more reasonable bedtime for everyone and less arguments about there still being other children allowed to play! There is a Fish and Chip Van that visits the site on a Friday and a Pizza Van on a Saturday (I think this comes another day as well but cannot be totally sure). We didn’t have a Pizza so cannot comment on them but the Fish and Chips were lovely. Plenty of chips and the fish was lovely. The site is lovely and the staff helpful and welcoming. Our children did the tourer explorer treasure hunt around the site, which they thoroughly enjoyed. The site facilities were lovely and clean but looking a little tired but this is a very busy site so I would imagine this happens very quickly and didnt stop us using them. While we visited there was a power cut and also some problems with the sewerage system following some impressive storms. The wardens did a fantastic job of getting it all back working again. The WiFi is not great and with no phone signal on the site either for us it made some of our planning for the days out a little frustrating. It did get better during the week when the site was a little less busy however it was still very slow and at time totally unusable. While we were there we visited the National Trust side of Clumber Park. We walked over and found it a lovely place to visit with the kids. The play area kept them entertained, they were also offering some seasonal events such as the Summer of Sport which had the kids doing events and for a £1 donation they got a medal (all kids love a medal), and "50 things to do before you are 11 3/4" unfortunately we didn’t get the opportunity to have a go at this but it looked like a lot of fun with den building, making mud pies etc. All of this was lead by someone at the park and was free. We also took a longer drive and went to Wollaton Hall, it is only an hours drive away but has a lovely Natural History Museum, nice walks around the park, some nice gardens and a large children’s play area. You pay for parking but entry to Wollaton Hall itself is Free. We had a lovely time at this site and we will definitely be visiting again in the future.
