The Msrstons North Wales Summer Tour 2018 with the kids and dogs

A very peaceful site whuch is respected by members at night. Wardens very friendly as well as facility staff. The Brynn Arms pub nearby very handy for meals / snacks and they allow dogs in their bar area. Good to reserve table as popular. Play area basic but limited due to terrain / slopes so site not great for bikes. Scooters ok around the site though. Information centre good as well as small shop with basic provisions. Be prepared to get bread, milk and locally sourced bacon, eggs and sausages early ( or the day before) from the wardens' shop as they are very popular with members! Toilet and showering facilities are excellent. Dog walk is small but you can go off site down the lane too if needed or around the site. Location of site for touring North Wales is excellent but be prepared to do own research on which venue allow dogs. Snowdon Mountain railway only allows registered assistance dogs up or down the mountain. However Ffestiniog Slate Mine has doggy day care facility and the Ffestiniog Steam train to Portmadoc allows them too as well as Criccieth and Harlec Castle. Dogs are also allowed on the beautiful sandy beach at Harlec so use the park n ride car park for beach and castle. The leisure centre also allows parking at £2 all day for anyone visiting Harlech but the park n ride is best. Do not attempt to try and park near the castle after 9am as will be impossible - very small car park. The Zipworld forest venue outside Betsycoed is worth a visit with coaster through the woods. Quite a bit of waiting around to do other activities so take a picnic. Dogs are also allowed - some walking in the woods from main site possible too. Eating out with dogs - dog friendly cafe in Wales is Cadwalanders we visited them in Portmadoc, Bets y Coed and Criccieth - great coffee and ice creams of all flavours. The Royal Sportsman Hotel down the high street near Tescos in Portmadoc also allows well behaved pets and does good food too and staff very friendly. In all a very good 12 nights at our caravan site, very friendly and helpful staff and would gladly stay there again with both kids and dogs. Thankyou wardens !
