A gem of a site, but few stones to be seen.

We have been coming to site for many years, and for all it’s a beautiful site it is in desperate need of some pitch maintenance. Finding a level pitch is like winning the lottery and if it has more than a sprinkling of stones on it then you’ve won the euro millions. Not so much hard standing, more like hard work, and it’s been like this for years. That said the surroundings are lovely, being in a peaceful wooded area. There’s a few ways to walk into Coniston itself, where there are plenty of pubs and some nice shops. If walking/hiking is your preferred leisure activity, then a trek up ‘The Old Man of Coniston’ is breathtaking both with its views and its climb. More gentle paced walks are also abundant. All in all a gem of a site, Caravan Club just need to sort out the hard standing pitches. PS don’t forget your waterproofs, you will most likely need them.
