Nice, traditional site

We've just spent 3 weeks on this site, visiting our first grandchild at our daughter and son-in-laws flat, in nearby Streatham. The site was perfect for us, clean and tidy (despite the closure notice hanging over it) and the wardens were fantastic - helpful from our initial phonecall enquiry, through to when we left. They do a great job and deserve recognition for their efforts. This time of year, particularly on a wooded, damp site, does bring challenges, with the toilet block in particular, suffering from the occasional inconsiderate member, who doesn't make any effort to keep the place clean and, I guess, that this isn't helped by the seemingly stupid decission from the Club to still prohibit the use of shower curtains, that do help to prevent the flooded floors we often experienced. It would also be good to have the useful stools back that we think so necessary in this old style shower block. Whilst staying there, we did travel around both town areas extensively and visited a couple of English Heritage sites, using the local buses, we also did a 50 mile, round trip, bike ride down to the North Downs. I do have to say that, with so many people living in such close proximity and with many happy to produce and dump, hige amounts of rubbish, the area is very scruffy and we were very happy to come home to our lovely Shropshire. That said, the Crystal Palace site is very well located and we do hope that it continues to operate for many more years.
