No toilet block

We should have read the facilities guide before we booked! Not pleasant to empty the Thetford.. Other that that I felt this site just wasn't up to the usual CAMC high standard. Apart from the Toilet block, the TV signal was terrible - On our Power Post the TV point didn't work so we used the one next door and we got 6 channels but they kept dropping out. The phone signal is also very bad - This site needs WIFI (And a toilet block) as a matter of priority in my opinion. The area is stunning, although the closest village is a very long way away - too far to just walk to. There is a dog area, but it is tiny - just enough for the toilet. Local dog walks involve going through the neighbouring farmers field and he was a little grumpy! Even though our dog was on a lead (As he always is) he still felt the need to tell us to keep him on a lead. This may suit 'off grid' style caravaners - but we prefer a few more home comforts - and the toilet block is a clincher for us. The staff are LOVELY and very helpful as ever. We moved from here to Coniston Coppice and IMHO that is 100% better than this site.

Perfect!

Just returned from a long weekend stay here. Directions to the site were good, mostly A roads with a short section of narrowish road. Welcome from the wardens was warm and friendly. They gave me a choice of three pitches due to the size of my outfit- any would have been fine. Unusually for a non facilities site, there were a number of families with young children who were all having a great time amusing themselves as little ones do. They were a pleasure to watch. The site was beautifully kept by the two wardens with not a blade of grass out of place. The best part for me was the fenced dog walk where my two pups could practice their recall skills in safety! At about 2 hours from home, definitely a site I would use again.

Good for get away for peace and quiet in the country.

Peace and quiet in less busy part of Lake District. Good for walking and cycling and easy access to places by car for those less able to walk far. Good views of surrounding hills and reports of Red Squirrels visiting the site but not unfortunately during our recent visit end April 2017.

Do you want a place to get away from the busyness of life?

Do you want to enjoy the Lake district without the crowds? If you do then this little gem of a site nestled in just above Ennerdale water with easy access to the hills and coast provides you with just that. With St Bees 20 minutes away you can enjoy a cliff top walk or ice-cream, or want up England's tallest single drop waterfall, Storm Force, starting in Buttermere 30 minutes away. May be you want to visit the Blakeley stone circle and catch a glimpse of the wild horses. Or perhaps you were looking for the peace and tranquility provided by wild Ennerdale with it native forests, ancient long houses and crystal clear waters of Liza and Smithy Beck. Dockray Meadow Caravan Club Site is small, very friendly and perfectly positioned to start your break. My family and I were very happy to spend the time there.

Easter 2017

Lovely site, very quiet and relaxing. Vast majority of pitches require leveling in both directions so plenty of chucks/blocks required. Well situated for cyling and walking for couples and older families. The Cumbrian coast is pretty run down, not much to do there, you need to head into the lakes which is a decent drive to keep kids entertained. We had zero channels on the caravans status ariel, there are tv points on the hook ups, cables are £16 from the office, so either bring your own 20metre coaxial or be prepared to pay. I think the lack of tv should be better made aware of in the site description. Very well kept as all club sites are, excellent if you want to escape the hustle and bustle, better suited to adults.

Helpful staff, lovely site

Loved our stay over easter, the site was full but still plenty of space on this peaceful site. Small site means little site traffic so the open spaces always feel safe for the kids. Staff were great. Will definitely be returning.

Very Nice site, liked very much this area, Handy for Ennerdale and Cogra moss, One night stay in search of Red Squirrels, none seen on this visit, The the Red Squirrel feeders need to be kept topped up with Nuts, All empty at this time, (not good)
