Good for families

Off the beaten track

Although this site is approximately 25 minutes beyond Keswick by car, it's seclusion and tranquillity repays many times over - quiet walks around Loweswater and Crummock Water may be accessed within 10 - 15 minutes in the car and strong walkers can find virtually unused tracks which give access to the NW Fells of the Lake District within a mile of the site. The site itself is a haven of bird life and its westerly, sheltered aspect mean that in many conditions sitting out with a cup of something listening to bird-song is a joy! Add to this the quiet efficiency and diligence of the present young wardens and you have a recipe for a wonderful holiday. However, if you want a busy site, full of 'young bucks' ready to demonstrate their latest 'outfit purchase' and to entertain you with stories of previous jaunts (escapades?) then look elsewhere. This location is for relaxing and enjoying the peace and solitude of Cumbria - the nearby coast is worthy of your time for investigation - you will be entranced by the cobbled streets of Silloth and the old harbour at Maryport. One of the Caravan Club's 'little gems'!
