Good for families

Very pleasant for walking on the area

We visited for two nights as a short break. The wardens were very welcoming, pitches mainly flat and with pleasant views of the surrounding fells. The dog exercise area is great, with agility equipment provided. We ate out one evening at the Ennerdale brewery, but we had to go in the motorhome because the walk along a busy main road is unpleasant. It is a shame that there is no local pub or cafe within easy walking distance. The site is ideal for visiting Cockermouth, Whitehaven and Keswick. We walked to Cogra Moss but a little disappointed that we could not find a suitable circular route around the moss. I am sure it is possible but we didn't have a map with enough detail on it to work it out. Some of the lake side is privately owned by the angling club so walkers not allowed access. It is worth exploring the history of the area.
