This site is only half an hour from home and we chose it to test our van for the first time. We were the last to arrive and received a call from the warden as we were driving there. We had a service pitch without awning which was great and very big. Everything worked perfect (apart from us forgetting some things). The site was nice and quiet but as others have said the noise from the A1 was evident. During the day we didn’t notice it but when I woke during the night (not because of the noise) it was quite irritating. There is a lovely walk to the river but we didn’t have time to explore too far as we wanted to get back to try putting up our sun canopy which turned out to be very easy. I thought this would be a one off stay for us with being so close but we would return if we finished work late and wanted somewhere local to stay. And we will definitely return to explore that riverside walk again. If you are travelling on the A1 it is an excellent stopping point as it is so close to the junction.
