We arrived at site for a weekend break as we did not live far away. It is absolutely ideal for those wishing to use as a base, to visit Durham, Newcastle and other nearby attractions, such as Beamish Open Air Museum. The facilities were spotless, staff friendly so all in all a very pleasant stay. For those wanting to experience the total peace and quiet, then as already pointed out in a number of reviews, you are sited just yards away from the A1(M). It does not bother us at all, but there is the consistent "rumble" of traffic, it is a kin of having a fly stuck in your ear. Another point worth a mention, if you have a extra long unit for example, as you come off A1 and head for Durham, the turning for the site means you have to cross over a busy duel carriageway with oncoming traffic. If you are not confident about making this manoeuvre, then continue another 2 miles or so towards Durham, then use the roundabout and come back up the duel carriageway, therefore all you have to do is take the small slip road into the signposted site, in my opinion a much safer bet.
