Edinburgh CC

Excellent site in the suburbs of Edinburgh. Friendly welcome from the staff, and an impression of quiet efficiency. The site has a large choice of pitches, which you can choose yourself. Site and facilities are spotlessly clean.  Great toilet and shower block, and water/elsan points in abundance.

Some reviews are noting noise from traffic and airplanes. Let me put my perspective on this... The traffic noise from the adjacent road is not unacceptable. We were pitched almost beside the road, and found the noise level to be quite acceptable. If you choose your pitch toward the centre of the site, noise from the road will be reduced. Yes, there is aircraft noise, but again, it's not disturbing.  Let's be clear. If you want a site which is 15 minutes drive from the centre of a city with a population of best part of 500,000 there WILL be people around you. Those people need to travel. (Ask yourself - How did you get there? - You drove past someone's house, making traffic noise...) Of course there will be a little road noise, and there will be some aircraft noise, too. It's the payoff for being in a centre of population. If you want total silence, choose a site in the middle of nowhere, and spend an hour driving to Edinburgh each day. If you want a fantastic site 15 minutes from the centre of the capital of our country, book here. I would hope that we're all sensible enough to realise that there are times for chilling our in the backwaters of the country, and times for being a little closer to the hub of things. We're already booked to go back to this site in 3 weeks time, and it cannot come quickly enough.

Will come again

Nice location, friendly staff, very clean and well kept! The site is not too close to the CBD, but quiet in return. It was our first caravan club site, and we were definitely off to a good start here!

Very clean and we'll located

A great welcome was given upon arrival, although prices here on the Web do differ from the ones at campsite. I did confront them about it and they didn't know why, so be aware about this. Otherwise a very clean and extremely well organised site. Will stay here again if there is avsilsbility. Recomend it to anyone.

Lovely site

The team running this site are very friendly... even a 7.55pm check in. They couldn't do enough to help, thank you. Shower blocks are very very clean, good showers. Water and wast points near by. Out side the site a lovely walk along the coast is stunning. Bus route near by and a great quiet friendly site. I will be back.

Really great experience

This was our first taste of Caravan Club sites. Really positive experience that will encourage us to repeat the experience soon. Great for our dogs too.

Excellent site location

This site was in an excellent location to visit the city good  bus route and transport available by minibus from site. Down side directly under flight path no facilities for youngsters a very small play area facilities were good most wardens were friendly a couple of exceptions.maybe just a off day  we will certainly revisit lovely walk along promenade overall a well maintained site and well worth the visit.

Wonderful site

Close to the City, but very quiet (planes excepting, but they don't fly all night). Quite nice to plane spot. Warden's very helpful. Facilities spotless and warm. Great meal at Miller & Carter at Barnton. Buses every 20 mins, but take a torch if returning after dark down the path! A jewel of a site. We hope to return in the future.

Nice site in a great location but.......

The site was in a great location with about a 7 minute walk to the bus stop for buses into Edinburgh. Shame the service from outside the site gates has now been terminated. If you are relying on satellite for your TV, you may struggle to find a suitable pitch when the site is busy. The site is under the flight path for Edinburgh Airport. The flights seemed to stop about midnight but on the Saturday night / Sunday morning, the were four flights coming in to land after midnight which woke us both. My main concern was with the hot water at the dishwashing area. The water was extremely hot yet some of the hot taps worked in reverse & it seemed they had undergone botched repairs. Twice I scalded myself after losing concentration momentarily while rinsing plates. Instead of turning the water off, the tap dispensed water at full power.  This is hypocritical of the Caravan Club where they have removed irons from the laundry rooms due to the risk of someone burning themselves yet they have some taps that have undergone a botched repair dispensing scalding hot water. What made it worse, some of the hot taps operated in the correct direction so there was no consistency. If this had occurred at my place of work, the taps would have been taken out of service until they could operate as designed.

Great site

Hard to imagine you are so near a city whilst camping here. Good base for the Falkirk wheel - a must. Had been to Edinburgh before so just explored countryside.  Lovely cause way along the Firth of Forth which is worth walking - Apparently at low tide you can walk to the Isle of Crammond. We shall come again.
