Great location for the city if you are OK with some noise

Stayed for 3 nights in Sept. Cycled to the new Forth Road Bridge on mainly traffic free routes. Maps in info hut cover part of this. 22 mile round trip, great views. Wide cycle path on bridge. We found the aircraft noise a bit intrusive at the site, from 7 am until 3am one lands every few minutes. As they are coming in gear down it is not as bad as take off but you are aware of it. Went to the city in the Minibus. Highly recommended!! Time arranged by phone and took us in 15 mins to the city drop off and pick up point. 2 min walk and we were on the tour of the city bus. Brilliant. It's a couple of pounds more than the service bus...but with the walk and the 40 min intervals they can take an hour each way. Be aware there are no street lights outside the site and for us door to door was worth the extra £4. Driver knowledgeable and friendly. Site facilities due for a refresh, shower blocks a bit dated but functional, drive over drain still has a lift cover. Really enjoyed Edinburgh and the site did what we needed. We are also really good at identifying aircraft now!
