We stayed towards the end of August with our 2 greyhounds and 4 year old daughter. She loved the park and the dogs loved the woods and the nearby beach which is miles of glorious sand at low tide (you can even walk to the island if you are quick!). When we checked in the staff kindly told us that if we hurried into the centre we would catch the fireworks for the Fringe closing ceremony so we did and loved it. We wouldn’t have known had they not mentioned it. We took the site minibus in (with dogs) for £8 return which was a bargain as local buses would’ve been £5 and a fair walk to the bus stop. Definitely recommend the minibus. Small children & dogs are free. We had no noise as mentioned in other reviews, and no trouble with bike theft! We did use one of the lockers offered at checkin to be safe. Didn’t see anything suspicious and would definitely return to the site when in the area again.
