Lovely site run by excellent wardens

We have stayed at this site several times as it is so convenient to be able to walk into the village centre. There are some great places to eat and drink plus good walks on your doorstep. The wardens are excellent - very helpful, professional and friendly. They did have to deal with two people letting their dogs run free and it is good to know that wardens enforce the rules so that everyone has an enjoyable time (it also must be infuriating for the vast majority of dog owners to have their own animals tethered and have to see that).

Lovely little site

Really nice site, facilities great and very clean. The staff were really friendly and it’s only a short walk into the lovely town centre. Quiet location with the sound of the stream in the background. One tip though is not the head out of the site and drive through the town, we followed the sat nav and it’s very narrow, definitely go out the other way, turning right by the pub and pick a route that side .

A lovely peaceful location

We stayed for 9 days towards the end of the prolonged drought conditions but everywhere was still so green and tranquil with the river in the background and various birds and deer calling. Staff were very friendly and helpful on arrival (and all through the stay) and all facilities were in general kept lovely and clean and tidy, just some users who didn’t care about others left toilets dirty or shower cubicles awash on the floor, but that’s not unusual I’m afraid. The only real issue we encountered was even using hard ground pegs and a heavy mallet the ground was like concrete (literally thought I’d picked a pitch with concrete sub base) so bear it in mind if ever you go in drought conditions take drill in pegs and a hammer drill! The granite chippings are pretty sharp and we’re penetrating the “carpet” in the awning so be careful with inflatable awnings and any dogs with soft pads. Overall a great base to explore by bike, on foot or by car all the area has to offer. If you go in the river check for leeches as I did pull one off the dogs face one evening!!! If you go at dusk over the river and up through middle path if you’re quiet you may get to see the wild deer as I was fortunate to get to. Final words of advice is the Petrol/diesel station up the High Street shuts at 1pm on a Saturday and other filling options are few and far between (Tiverton has most options and a Halfords etc). Some greenery and trees on the road in from Tiverton are low and a risk to caravan roofs etc but they have been cutting some back but there’s a way to go so beware. If it wasn’t for having to negotiate the M5 and M42 I’d be back at this site with great regularity.

So so peaceful

Such a lovely site. Small but plenty of room for everyone. No outside noise so very peaceful. We were able to thoroughly unwind. The staff were happy and helpful, with lots of information.

Great site, great wardens

We have stayed at Exmoor House many times and it is our favourite. Small, clean, quiet and helpful wardens plus pubs, cream teas and shops in easy walking distance - what more do you need. There are also lovely walks straight from the site. Can't beat it!!!!

Great site with brilliant location

This is a superb site in a brilliant location. The village of Dulverton has everything you could want within easy walking distance. There are 3 pubs all serving good food . However Woods is a bit on the expensive side but if you want great food this is the place for you. There is a Co-Op supermarket with a very good selection of food and beer and wines. There is also a green groceries and a delicatisan and there is even a Fish and chip shop. The site itself is well laid out and the wardens are friendly and informative. However during our visit in the first weeks of July it was fully booked on most days. My only criticism was that during our stay the smaller of the toilet and shower blocks which only had 2 toilet cubicles in the mens both of which were locked “ out of action”for 4/5 days . Obviously there was another toilet block available but I could not understand why they could not be put right in a shorter period in view of the site being fully booked Overhaul this is a great site to visit and I look forward to returning again

Comment from the Club

Thank you so much for your review and we are delighted you found the site superb! We are sorry you were inconvenienced by the two cubicles being out of action from the Sunday morning to the Tuesday morning. Our site staff initially tried to fix them, but as they had no luck they called a local firm who came and resolved the issue and they were back up and running again by 11am Tuesday morning.

Beautiful Somerset Stay

This is an excellent site in a beautiful location. The village, offering a range of shops, cafes and pubs, is a 5 minute walk from the site. Lots of lovely walks from the site along ancient pathways and through the lush green forests. The Exmoor Pony Centre, which is very informative and with lots of pony to see and pet, is about 10 mins away by car. National Trust property Knightshayes is well worth a visit and is about 30 mins away. The campsite was very well maintained as usual and the staff were very knowledgeable about the areas and happy to give good suggestions where to visit. Would highly recommend this site and hope to be able to visit again sometime.

Get a local map then go and explore ...

Exmoor House Club Campsite is in a suburb location within walking distance of the beautiful old town of Dulverton with its eclectic selection of shops, pubs and restaurants. The friendly staff offered assistance to plan out a series of walks for the duration of our stay. Armed with the recommended map available from the office, we where able to leave our camper van behind and explore the surrounding area. There are plenty of well marked riverside walks and trails through woodland to choose from. The campsite is beautifully maintained and staff just really nice people. We are likely stay here again sometime soon.

Best site we've stayed on!

Have just returned from a wonderful 2 week break in Somerset / Devon staying on this lovely site on the outskirts of Dulverton on Southern tip of Exmoor National Park. The site is just 5 minute walk from the lovely village of Dulverton, which has a couple of lovely pubs, a coop, tea rooms, bakery and some really nice independent shops. We have 2 dogs and there is a dog walk on site, but there is also a great grassy river bank area with seating, next to a picturesque stone arched bridge over the river which is also only a 5 minute walk from the site. The site is ideally located and only a relatively short scenic drive from the North Somerset / Devon coastline as well as beautiful places within Exmoor National Park like Dunster. The site is quite small, but this adds to its charm and appeal because it is doesn't feel overly busy or crowded and is also away from main roads and therefore peaceful and quiet. The facilities are excellent and very clean and the wardens on site very helpful and friendly. On a clear night the stars in the sky also put on an amazing show! The perfect site for a lovely relaxing stay. We would thoroughly recommend it to all members and will certainly be visiting it again in the fufure.

A little gem

What a fabulous site, beautifully kept and spotlessly clean. Wardens couldn’t have been more helpful when we broke down, a very sincere thank you to them. A little gem and a stones throw from the town. Lovely walks from the site and beautiful babbling river on the boundary also. Will definitely be back. Thank you to the wardens for their hard work maintaining such high standards.
