Little gem on the edge of Exmoor

Just returned from our first visit to this lovely site in Dulverton on the edge of Exmoor. Possibly the best campsite we have ever stayed at - just couldn’t fault anything about it. The amazing weather this weekend helped but the campsite itself is I am sure charming in any weather and at any time of year. Keith and Debbie the wardens do an amazing job of keeping the site beautifully maintained and spotlessly clean. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they are so friendly and always smiling. Both the site itself and the little town of Dulverton possess a relaxed, laid back and very friendly atmosphere. We will return to this beautiful site and town. Having read other reviews we chose to eat at The Bridge public house and were a little disappointed to find that we felt it didn’t meet our expectations completely. However it was a Bank Holiday weekend and very busy. On the other hand we also ate at The Copper Kettle Tea Rooms and that was a lovely surprise with a beautiful garden where we chose to sit - their food was excellent and the service and atmosphere unbeatable. One of the particularly nice elements of this weekend away was how dog friendly the site and whole area is - dogs welcome everywhere. One thing to note if you haven’t been there before is that vehicular access to the site is obtained by driving through the Bridge public house car park - the sign indicating this is very small and easy to miss and due to our sat nav behaving badly we drove past which meant doing a lap of Dulverton - not easy in a big vehicle. Looking forward already to returning and hope to find Keith and Debbie still there.
