Good for families

Still our favourite site

We have been using this site for the best part of 30 years, returning every couple of years. The location is superb, good walks from the site or a short drive to the moor for more walks, interesting sites etc. Tarr Steps is lovely, we walked there from Withypool and had lunch at the Tarr Steps Inn. Dulverton itself has everything you need (although the bank has closed down, but there is a cash machine limited to £50 in the Co-op). There is a butcher shop, a greengrocer, small Co-op supermarket, hardware store, pet shop, Tantivy that sells papers, booze, sweets, gifts etc. There is also a baker's although it's not in the main part of the town, it's out a bit towards the moor but still easy walking distance from the site. And they offer dog treats in the form of their own bread cooked in beef dripping. The site itself is immaculate, great work from Debbie and Keith keeping everything ship-shape and being extremely helpful. We had a great evening meal in the Lion Hotel, like everywhere else it is dog friendly, decent beer, friendly staff and a good meal. Our only gripe during the whole week was the extremely irritating dog on the next pitch that barked constantly for no reason and the owners who did very little to try to shut it up.
