Quiet, peaceful, rural

Stayed for 2 nights in mid July. Adults only site, so lovely and peaceful and everybody respectfully distanced. Pitches are allocated on arrival; we had confirmation of being in the Main Park but actually were in The Paddock which was a surprise! Whilst this pitch was fine, it was not aligned to the booking. Site is located amongst a number of fishing lakes and offers lots of walks both on and off site - the Doddington Circular Walk is lovely in rural countryside and amongst the wind turbines - a flat 5 miles. We had a service pitch supplying electricity and water and grey water take-away - however the service point itself was a long way back from the pitch and our outfit that there is no way a standard set of waste pipes would have reached the drain - somewhat negates the positive of having a service point! The pitch itself is very fine gravel, so easily picked up on your shoes and can be trodden into your outfit. The facilities were ok, some were cubicles with shower, toilet and washbasin. The shower tray in the gents was broken. There is only one waste bin area, located at the entrance to the Main Park - great for the bin men collections but not helpful for the visitors. There is a garden shed which masquerades as a cafe - expensive and very irregular in its opening hours. You also need to book your meal the day before - whilst this may assist the supply chain, it does not allow any spontaneity. There is an adequate dog exercise field on site and plenty of areas of walk dogs on leads around the fish lakes - plentiful dog bins.
