Caravan and motor home club field known as the CL site

This is a great fishing site and my husband very much enjoyed his fishing experience here. Sadly on arrival and given directions to the CL site we were given a code for the toilet/shower block for this specific area which is right at the back of the site. This block contains a fisherman’s toilet for the day visitors and one separate shower/toilet/sink room which the code is for. This room was filthy! It obviously had not be cleaned recently and the toilet seat was not even attached to the toilet and just slipped straight off. The were dozens of dead insects that had obviously been there for weeks, cobwebs, the toilet was dirty, the shower cubicle was very mouldy and extremely uninviting, the emergency cord was wrapped up and absolutely filthy! There was no washing up facility either! Due to this we reported it to reception and asked if we could use the facilities in the main park instead and the lovely lady at reception apologised straight away and said of course. However a male member of staff was not so friendly and interrupted to say we could only use the main park facilities until the seat was fixed and toilet cleaned. We used the main facilities for our entire stay of 3 days which were beautiful. Spotlessly clean, plenty of hot water, flowers in a vase and nice background music in the washing up area, a totally different experience. I did pop back to the CL toilet and the seat was fixed but the room was still filthy. The difference in price between areas is only £2. Per night for same pitch. We did feel like second class guests on the CL field. It was a long walk back and forth for the toilet {especially during the night} shower and wash up! Luckily the weather was kind to us! We would go back but we would never stain in the CL part again.

Excellent

Wish we could of had more days there as we only stayed the one night/day. We arrived late due to a breakdown, on arrival we were meet a lovely lady who really helpful and kind. The stay all but to short was a very pleasant and relaxing time, the facilities were spotlessly clean, with ample hot water for the shower etc. We certainly hope to go back and stay longer and enjoy it more. Would recommend it to others as a great place to stay. 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼

Not that Tranquil

Nice location but there are a few annoying issues with the site. If you're allocated a pitch near the reception, it gets annoying because of the noise caused by vehicles running over gravel - especially early in the morning. Day anglers arrive all through the day making it worse. I couldn't find any recycling bins. You have to use a dirty, smelly industrial size bin, in a dirty area of the car park, the walk to and from it (if on the Paddock) is a pain. Our pitch 47 had a large hole right where the motorhome needed to be pitched, as for the pitches, they are not marked out or defined very well, consequently people just walk through them. The facility for taking on water and dumping grey waste is poorly designed for anything but the smallest of motorhomes. If you like fishing then you'll probably like the set up.....if you don't fish it's not that tranquil...

Tranquil relaxing spot.

Just had a 3 night stay, nicely laid out with different areas and levels made it very attractive. Went mainly for hubby to do some fishing, had a pitch waterside which was very pleasantly laid out, the fact you had your very own fishing peg. As this area is relatively new the fishing was a bit hit & mis. However having a further 2 lakes with plenty of action was a bonus. A very well managed site with a friendly team, I’m sure we shall return.

Quiet, peaceful, rural

Stayed for 2 nights in mid July. Adults only site, so lovely and peaceful and everybody respectfully distanced. Pitches are allocated on arrival; we had confirmation of being in the Main Park but actually were in The Paddock which was a surprise! Whilst this pitch was fine, it was not aligned to the booking. Site is located amongst a number of fishing lakes and offers lots of walks both on and off site - the Doddington Circular Walk is lovely in rural countryside and amongst the wind turbines - a flat 5 miles. We had a service pitch supplying electricity and water and grey water take-away - however the service point itself was a long way back from the pitch and our outfit that there is no way a standard set of waste pipes would have reached the drain - somewhat negates the positive of having a service point! The pitch itself is very fine gravel, so easily picked up on your shoes and can be trodden into your outfit. The facilities were ok, some were cubicles with shower, toilet and washbasin. The shower tray in the gents was broken. There is only one waste bin area, located at the entrance to the Main Park - great for the bin men collections but not helpful for the visitors. There is a garden shed which masquerades as a cafe - expensive and very irregular in its opening hours. You also need to book your meal the day before - whilst this may assist the supply chain, it does not allow any spontaneity. There is an adequate dog exercise field on site and plenty of areas of walk dogs on leads around the fish lakes - plentiful dog bins.

lodge

we thought we would stay in the lodges as the hot tub sounded a real treat, and the hot tub was amazing the lodge itself was lovely BUT cleaning was awful!! dirty cutlery with sticky red food left on cutlery and knifes in knife block the dust under the bed must of been an inch thick and when the doors were open and giving a gentle breeze it was being blown about, the bar stools also had food on from previous guests! there was a filthy and I mean filthy washing up sponge left on the draining board, the settee had wholes in with missing stitching! which was 6 inches long! on one part. one particular male member of staff was not at all friendly and in my opinion boarding on rude!

Fab U lous

This site is adult only and get a big thumbs up from us. We are not fishers but that doesn't matter on this site, you are still made welcome. We have 2 Greyhounds and they love the off-lead dog walk area. One of our dogs doesn't like the stone but that's not a problem on this site with lovely walks on site. We only leave the site on the arrival day for fish and chip supper from in the village. But if you don't want to leave the site for takeaway they have an on-site Cafe that does great food and you can take away from them, and I believe they even deliver still. It is a peaceful site and well maintained, we love going here and visit at least once a year. A BIG THANKYOU TO ALL THE STAFF

Absolutely perfect

One of the best sites we have stayed at. Beautiful scenery throughout. Clean shower/toilet blocks. Staff friendly, helpful and always have a smile. The waterside area is lovely, but so is the paddock and main site. The cafe serves top notch food. Just remember to bring some cash though as the laundry machines and the cafe only take cash. A bit of thing of the past, so we did nearly get caught out there.

Great site

Just got back from first visit to field end waters, great site, peaceful and spotless. had to give good for families a 5 star but it is an adults only site and i didnot want to affect overall rating by reducing this. Great for fishing, and handy for days out, would recomend The National Trust Peckover House tour, great guide and realy enjoyed it. Will definately come again.

Great Site

Booked for six nights at the end of May and was so impressed. First of all it's very easy to find and great roads on the approach so even for nervous caravaners or larger vans you'll have no problems accessing the site. Check in was very friendly and efficient and once on the site I couldn't believe how large the pitches were. The grounds are immaculate and the whole site makes for pleasant walking around the lakes. I'm not a fisherman but everyone I spoke to who was fishing rated it highly. The toilet and shower facilities were spotless and warm, can't ask for anything else. The new site with parking around the lakes is probably one of the nicest area's I've seen for caravans but didn't book this as it the main site is slightly cheaper and absolutely great anyway. Any issues: Its quite a tight turn from reception into the main park but we have a long caravan and the turn looks worse than it is, but even then the reception offered to come out and watch us round if we wanted. Waste pipe, you may want more of it than you've got but this is mentioned in the park info before you come and if you don't have quite enough they sell it and connectors in the reception shop, and they don't rip you off for prices either. We loved it so much we've already booked again for next year and if we get time might see if we can squeeze in a cheeky late weekend if they have the availability. Highly recommended.
