Godrevy

Stayed for 5 nights in mid September and enjoyed fantastic weather. The wardens were very friendly and helpful and came to our rescue with some emergency repairs when our caravan became detached from the car as we were leaving the site. The location is great for beach lovers. Only adverse comment would be that the toilets facilities are in need of updating and enlarging- the wardens always keep them clean but I would imagine that in the peak season they could be overcrowded.

A Favourite Site

Love this site it is so well situated to get out and about in Cornwall. The site is well set out with pitches to suit every taste. We always come at the end of the season so pitches are obviously a bit worn but always dry up quickly after rain due to the sandy soil. The facilities could do with updating but are kept spotless by the wardens who are always cheery and do a fantastic job.

Sunny and warm Godrevy

Two week stay in September, weather had been a bit mixed. Nice site and location but some pitches are a bit cramped. Sadly no hard standings, and with recent rain, many pitches were in a poor state due to awning damage and heavy usage. The sandy soil dries out quickly after rain, but makes keeping the caravan carpets clean, something of a challenge. Great helpful wardens doing their very best in difficult circumstances though. Site could do with some re-investment. Great location to explore the south west of Cornwall. Will probably be back again next year ! This is a popular and busy site.

Good location for walking and beach access.Double mini roundabout needs careful attention on approach.toilets and showers clean but could do with upgrading. No hard standing and pitches small.Hard working wardens very helpful.Stayed in September and would go back again.

Godrevy

Our stay at this site for two weeks sept2015 was brilliant thanks to the God squad (managers) who were always happy, helpful and cheerful. Their work here has certainly worked wonders since our last visit in 2012. Some hardstandings would be a benefit but given the location would probably be difficult with planners. Thanks to everybody. Not motorhome friendly when wet no hardstandings

Arrived on the 18th September looking for a pitch for a couple of nights, met by a member of staff they said let me check if we have room for a motorhome? another motorhome was then turned away they were told they had no pitches for the size of their motorhome which was what i would call normal size. We were then given our pitch details found it next to the road and nothing but mud !! we decided to leave feeling that it was not suitable for us and our dog, we asked for our money back and was told no we would need to speak to CC HQ to try and get a refund and then told us they were doing us a favour by finding us a pitch, there was many pitches covered in mud and no use to a motorhome !! we then stayed motorhome covered in mud inside not helped by having a dog and very poor pitch. Cut short our trip to get the motorhome cleaned will not return very poor standard site for motorhomes did not look much fun if you own a caravan when it rains. CC HQ hard standings needed and toilet block update.

Unhelpful and unsympathetic

Booked four nights either side of a three night stay on the Isles of Scilly. Stayed nights of Wed/Thurs 5th/6th September. Condition of pitch poor due to previous heavy rain and limited due to us being in a motorhome. Had to pitch right next to road which runs round the site so little privacy and grassed area full of rabbit holes (needs care in the dark, as previous review). Our son had a car accident the week before and we were going to cancel our holiday, but knowing his recovery would take some time, family and friends assured us there would be plenty of people visiting him while we were away and said we needed to “recharge our batteries” having spent four difficult days at the hospital (and a night in the van in the hospital car park!). On arrival at the site we explained the situation and that we needed to set off back a day early to attend a meeting with his doctor ( ie we still needed to stay Monday when we arrived back on the mainland and would set off to the hospital early Tuesday morning (unfortunately therefore cancelling Tuesday night booking). The lady on reception seemed very understanding, asked what times we would be going in/out. We weren’t sure exactly, but she said not a problem as the gate was not electronic and just to lift the latch. Prior to our return to the mainland we worked out that it would probably be a little after 8pm by the time we got back to the site (the ferry docking at 7.15 and being 9 miles away from Godrevy). We rang and spoke to a gentleman who advised (quite abruptly in our opinion) that we could not stay that night. We explained our situation and said we would be happy to stay on the hardstanding (paying, of course) – we would not want to disturb anyone. He was quite unsympathetic to our situation. So we found ourselves driving around the area in the dark looking for a lay-by to park up. Very disappointed. (This is the second time I have written this review. It wasn’t posted the first time, hopefully this will be).

One of my favourites!

It was great to return here after some time staying on other sites in Cornwall. The location is great with easy access to lovely beaches and walks on the coast path. The bus outside the site is a bonus particularly for those with bus passes. Amenities such as shops, pubs and restaurants are all close by. The wardens are wonderfully cheerful, helpful and hardworking. The site has suffered as a result of the wet weather and the pitches were in a much poorer condition than on any of our previous visits. The facilities are clean and well looked after but certainly a little tired. However this is a great site nonetheless.

Why no hardstandings

Arrived at Godrevy CC Site 6th Sep 2015, site quite full, no hard standings, grass pitches, had, had, a hard summer, no grass whatsoever under awning? Just mud? Our pitch number 19 is next to a grass bank with ground sloping down to awning, we had heavy rain (not clubs fault obviously) but the water run into awning and it was like a lake for a few hours, this pitch need a soak away dug in between the bank and awning to take away surface water.

Toilet block looking tired compared to other club sites, shower cubicles very small, no bench to sit on just small plastic chair, bit of a Houdini to put your clothes back on after shower. That said the area is terrific, wardens very friendly, great area of sand dunes close by to take the dog, numerous supermarkets close by, and exceptional scenery. Won't come again because of mud under awning, we have decided to throw our ground sheets away because they are so muddy, the mud has come through breathable ground sheet, and settled on top of groundsheet, it's a mess. Can't the club just put chipping where the awnings go, or some other method to keep awning and ground sheets clean.
