We stayed on spacious grass pitch 37 fromJuly27 until Aug3. We found that the site was immaculately kept and any staff we had contact with were always helpful and friendly. It was our first visit to the Gower area and we were pleasantly surprised how beautiful and uncrowded it was once you went west from the site with fabulous beaches and coast walks, we managed 80k during our stay and on some walks we hardly met a soul, they mostly congregate around the ends of the beaches that have the facilities and food. Gowerton is a typically urban suburb of a very busy Swansea, which brings me to the main gripe about the site (which nobody can do anything about), traffic noise 24/7. Unfortunately during our stayed the winds we predominantly in the quarter from wnw to easterly so all of the background noise from the urban area plus the railway line immediately to the north of the site, plus the main road to Llanelli running parallel to it and the M4 just beyond that made it very intrusive. It didn’t stop at night either so take some ear plugs if you’re a light sleeper. When the wind moved to the sw it was considerably quieter! The only other gripe, which I’m assuming is a temporary measure, is the fact that there are no rubbish/recycling bins around the site, everything has to be taken to the main bins by the entrance. Ok if your pitch is at the front but a long walk from other parts of the site which leads to people blocking the entrance on their way out (there’s no room to pull over out of the way) with occasional tailbacks beyond the exit barrier, I’m assuming the barriers have sensors to prevent them closing with a vehicle still underneath, if not the consequences of damage claims against the club could be expensive! Non of this would stop us visiting this site again.
