Bicycle thief

Stay marred by theft of expensive bike sometime between dusk and dawn. The bike was chained with another bike to a tree. Thief cut through chain ( had they done a reccy during the day?) and we could see the wheel track in the grass leading to the gate to the road. Wardens didn't seem too interested  so just a warning to others with good bikes.

Excellent

Stayed 4 nights from 1st day of opening 2016. Lovely clean site in a fabulous position 20 min walk to Henley on Thames. Wardens were new to the site but very friendly and helpful. Pitches are easily accessible and spacious. We will definitely return and look forward to our next visit.

Henley on Thames

Much has been mentioned about site situated on busy road ,but we managed a pitch furthest away and it was fine. A 15 minute walk leads straight Into town with pubs, restaurants and individual shops.Windsor,Marlow all reachable for days out.Did a riverside walk to Shiplake village alongside River Thames. This site has a lot to offer.

Good Location

Stayed at this site many times, Location very good for Henley and surrounding areas. Our family live in this area so we come to this site to see them all. Site very clean and you can have lovely walks along the river Thames. Not far for Reading and Windsor.

Interesting place

We have been meaning to stay here for a while .  Finally got there.  Site is adjacent to a busy road with no street lighting. Aircraft noise also but not surprising giving its proximity to Heathow. 20 mins walk along a pavement and Henley awaits .  Loads of places to eat. Can highly recommend the cataplan fish dish in the Portuguese restaurant in the square. Local beer very good in various pubs also good pubs. Afternoon tea in Raymond Blanks was disappointing. Heard next door upstairs downstairs is much better. Took a lovely Sunday stroll along the Thames path towards Hambleden village. Sunday lunch at the Stag and huntsman was well worth the effort. Loads of wildlife along the way and rowers on the river of course. So after several good meals inter dispersed with long walks a very pleasant time was had.  Site facilities were good and no queues.  Wait rose provided a light tea that evening and a good sleep was had.

Not the most welcoming site

We arrived for a new year break just after Christmas - the warden was pretty unwelcoming, no seasonal greetings, not even a smile! He didn't have any information leaflets as they had run out, and generally seemed quite miserable.  The site is okay - really handy for exploring the surrounding towns of Henley, Marlow, Windsor - but is on a busy noisy road and a flight path for Heathrow so don't expect peace and quiet. The toilet block is the usual clean standard but there's only one and it is quite a walk from some of the pitched. The dog walk area is a tiny, muddy, fenced in scrap of grass so you need to leave the site to really walk the dog. Certainly not my favourite site, not helped by miserable staff.

Wardens

Location of this site is excellent, toilets very clean. However found the male warden to be unfriendly and a bit rude to our family and our friends on 2 occasions. Needs to tone down his attitude, we pay to stay there and are his customers, he needs to remember that. Apart from that a good site.

A New Year stay

Have just returned from a weeks stay and in terms of the site itself I cannot fault it. As has been mentioned previously the site is on a main road but from our pitch (40) it was not intrusive at all, but some mornings the planes over head were quite loud. The walk into Henley takes about 15 minutes and is mainly paved (does require crossing over the road a short distance from the site). Henley has a couple of supermarkets (Waitrose & Sainsbury) as well as a number of shops, coffee shops etc. Windsor is a short drive away and worth a visit (can watch the changing of the guard for Windsor Castle) but check dates first as they do vary. Wardens were very helpful (as its quite a small site, the roadway is quite narrow so they do help push caravans onto the pitch) Overall a great site if you can pitch away from the road.

Christmas break

We enjoyed our stay. The wardens were very helpful. The cleanliness was excellent but I would comment on the ladies toilets being left by some "ladies" in an unacceptable condition, please think about the next person to use the facility. My husband didn't have the same problem in the gents, come on ladies lift your game. The dog walking area was small but safe. It was very wet during our stay but our pitch was fine, lots of worm casts on the grass made walking on it muddy. Would recommend this site for the close proximity of Henley town and the bus stop isn't too far away.

a peaceful Christmas

We were on site for 8 nights over Christmas and can't praise the wardens too highly. They kept the facilities block immaculate and were very helpful in siting us close by it as my husband is disabled. We did not find the road to be as noisy as we had been told -in fact the planes from Heathrow on our final day were noisier! Lots of National Trust properties nearby and we were able to visit both Greys Court and Basildon Park (used for many indoor Downton scenes) which were open and dressed for Christmas. Also Toad Hall, a large garden centre just half a mile away. Marlow proved to be a non starter as we gave up trying to find a disabled parking spot after several circiuts. The walk into Henley had a good footpath all the way, ideal for mobility scooters. Our only grumble was the niff from the bins which needed a good jet wash and the cost of the Club's wifi which we always boycott and there were several establishments in  Henley which offer this free of charge.
