Well suited for beautiful Henley, tired facilities and noisy by road.

I cannot agree with recent comments regarding the staff. Toilets are tired and insufficient for the size of site and both sexes are closed for 90 minutes from 10.30am. Road is noisy if pitched close - depending on festivals etc noise persists throughout the night. Road to Henley takes 15 minutes but can be narrow (fast traffic) and is unlit at night. No satellite reception if close to road.

Go pod life

Well simply the best ever campsite ,, we love this Henley campsite as it’s close to all the places we need to go ie festivals , shopping , lovely as you can walk into town too ,, the staff who run this are brilliant they remembered us and every pith we stayed in so far 😂, they have a glorious herb garden , I love cooking and like to dabble on the camp cooker , the pitches are really well spaced out not uniform like most campsites with rabbits and ducks roaming around , also red kites which are awesome,, best time ever 😀

Good site, great location, excellent Wardens

This has become something of a favourite site for us as the location is so good - about 2 hours from home with good access to the town. We have just had a two-night stay on the way home to Kent from the West Country, and again had a warm welcome from the excellent Wardens (on Friday 15th July) Facilities clean and well maintained (although the shower cubicle doors in the gents seemed a bit displaced this morning); we have already planned another stay.

Great little site

Very convenient for Henley, just a flat 20 min stroll. Yes there is road noise but quietens down by late evening. Plenty of trees that offer good shade.

No welcome here

You won’t much of a welcome if you get the wrong set of wardens. We arrived early (along with others) and were threatened with expulsion from the site - to return fifteen minutes later. Probably best not to change the arrival time until the new handbook is printed, but if you want members to notice the change put it in bold at the top of the email. We also saw someone having to move their unit because it was 20cms from the peg, and a member being told off because he was using half a bucket of water to clean the road grime off his front windows. Having said that, the warders did keep the site clean and tidy. It is very handy for Henley, but the Club should get onto the Council to cut back the vegetation along the pavement leading into the town. Definitely Health & Safety issue.

Handy for Henley

So looking forward to our stay at this site as not an area we have visited. The road noise was as reported a real pain throughout our stay, we were at the back of the site. However our biggest disappointment was a motor van opposite was starting up his engine every morning to go to work presumably, this was 6:15 am. When we asked the warden why the barrier was not locked overnight to prevent this early morning disturbance we had a dismissive response. This ruined our 5 nights at the site. We felt the whole site required needed refurbishment despite the hard work carried out by the team. We cannot recommend this site

Lovely small site but not that peaceful

We have stayed here before so we were well aware of the road noise and we’re able to pitch as far away from it as possible. However it is always in the background. That said it is a small well kept and friendly site with helpful wardens. (I am sure a speed camera on the main road outside the site would help considerably with the national debt!) Our only gripe was the dogs barking continually and their owners inability or willingness to stop them. This seems to now be commonplace at most club sites and when you consider that primarily we holiday for rest and relaxation, this is now being spoilt by this irritating noise. We are animal lovers and our Daughter is a dog behaviourist affiliated to the Kennel Club so we know this does not have to be the case.

Beautiful site close to Henley

We have just returned from a 5 night stay at this site. The site is kept to a very high standard, very clean and facilities immaculate. We read previous reviews and based ourselves on one of the grass pitches away from the main road. I agree traffic could still be heard but it didn’t disturb us. The walk into Henley is along a busy road but as two adults it didn’t stop us using this route. We drove a few times and found parking easy in town. Taxi home wasn’t to expensive and there is a regular bus service Lovely places to eat whilst people watching. The river walks are flat and very peaceful. It was extremely hot whilst there so we spent time on the river bank in the shade watching the buildup to the regatta or visiting national trust properties We would return again hopefully when a little cooler do we could explore the area more

Beautiful but disappointing site.

I hate to give sites a bad review but here goes. Pros: Reception from warden was excellent and informative. Pitches are generally flat and a good size. Single toilet block is spotless. Henley on Thames is walkable for most. Excellent fenced dog walk area. Now for the bad bit. Cons: The site is located adjacent to a VERY VERY noisy, fast and busy road. ALL DAY and well into the NIGHT I may add. ( We are generally noise tolerant, we used to live literally adjacent to the M20 in Ashford Kent BUT this really was worse. It is supposed to be a 40 mph limit but in truth seems to be more like the Isle of Man TT at times. It actually genuinely became unbearable and at its worst we literally could not hear ourselves talk when sat outside the van. As a consequence we cut our stay short and went elsewhere. (A first for us). Although walkable, the path into Henley is narrow and overgrown and I would be hesitant to use this if I had small children or with infirm or very old relatives as previously stated, the road is VERY fast and has lots of heavy traffic, lorries, coaches etc. Summary: Although this is a beautifully kept site in a great location near Henley with very nice wardens, the traffic noise is simply unbearable and really ruined our stay. We would not return here for this reason nor recommend this for others and that is a shame as it is such a well kept site.

Excellent- as long as pitched away from the main road

We were heading to the Cotswolds from the South coast and decided to stop at Henley as an overnight stay. After driving through this beautiful town we decided to see if we could stay longer. Despite checking the CAMC website the night before and it showing as fully booked the pleasant and helpful warden was able to offer us a pitch for the duration and canceled our onward booking in the Cotswolds. The site is not large, has one well kept toilet and shower block and has generally good sized and level pitches. Our only mistake was to pitch alongside the road- please please please avoid any pitches on the road side if you want a quiet stay. The road was extremely noisy at times with bikes and noisy cars speeding up and down. It was generally quiet after midnight but even sitting out during the day time was unpleasant experience. We walked to the other side of the site which sides onto pleasant countryside and it was such a better experience. I will be getting one of those pitches next time. The wardens were very friendly and helpful. Our stay was over the jubilee weekend and we were offered a glass of sparkling wine, won a box of sweets in the raffle and appreciated the hard work the wardens had gone to, erecting bunting and balloons. The little shop on site sells the essentials- milk, bread, ice cream, baked beans etc. Henley is around 1 mile from the site and an easy, level walk on pavement into the town. Henley is beautiful- upmarket and with a wide variety of shops and eateries. The closest supermarket is a large Waitrose and a small high street Sainsbury's. A walk along the river is recommended. There is so much to see and do in the local area. Enjoy!
